Indeed if one was to look at the convective clouds, it give the appearance that the storm is heading North. If you look at other Satellites that have less frames in it's loop, you get the impression that it is moving Northwest.

Either way, I think it will be awhile to see just where the true c-o-c is.

Thanks for posting those captures and your great analysis!

What is the name of this thing

Well, this would be the sixth named storm of the season if it intensifies, which would make it the 'F' storm.

So I suggest Tropical Storm Furball.

On the maps, yellow is cat 1, orange-brown is cat 2, red is cat 5, magenta is cat 4, and pink is cat 5.

Isabel might be my favorite analog thus far. It's a little premature though, I suppose.

Fawn,

I forgot to mention that if you click down the menu and go to channel 4 you will not get the jumping of frames.

You know what...I messed up. I meant to compare frame 214 and 215. Here they are again. Just notice how far up the #15 lattitude line is compared to the previous frame:
Frame 214:

Frame 215:

Just wondered why it jumps up.....but it does look like it's going North already as you suggested.

Indeed to early to speculate, but the early run of the models even have that dip to the southwest that Isabel
had.

This should be worth a couple of dollars on the price of oil.

Yeah, all those deepwater wells off Bermuda are bound to be shut down. 8-)

No problems whatsoever - a lot of rain but no wind or water damage. I was living over near Lancaster during Isabel, and the tree damage there was pretty bad all around.
