French Archbishop of Paris Cardinal Andre Vingt-trois (Centre R) and Paris' Socialist Party mayor Bertrand Delanoe (Centre L) unveil a new street plate on the square in front of Notre Dame cathedral in central Paris September 3, 2006 during a ceremony to rename the esplanade after the late pope John Paul II. The decision was voted through the Paris council in June, and required a dispensation for the city's general rule that five years must pass after the death of prominent personalities before public places are named after them. Some 200 people protested carrying banners reading 'Square of the AIDS dead' as well as crucifixes decorated with condoms. Tens of them were arrested before and during the ceremony. ""Delanoe is honoring an assassin," some chanted, John Paul's opposition to condoms, along with other forms of contraception, was responsible for hundreds, even thousands of deaths to AIDS and other diseases."
But aborting babies isn't assassination, it's a right!

Actually, I think she's bound and determined to wrest that sign away from the one who says John Paul was doing gays and spreading AIDS.

I was talking about the woman (at least I think it's a woman) in the center who is identified as the protester.

Leftists hate religion and people of faith, and, in some cases, God himself. Remember this when you see Democrats on television.

"...as well as crucifixes decorated with condoms..."Ahh yes. We have our God, and they have theirs

I think the lady in pink is taking the sign away from the one in black.
To: Pyro7480
Is it just a Square or was it really named Notre Dame Square before?
If it was named Notre dame Square which means dedicated to the Blessed Mother --Mary-- I would say it is really not appropriate to change that name for a mere Pope.
Now no matter what you thought of Pope John II his status in heaven is nowhere near that of the Mother of Christ.
It should not be on earth either.

I saw it on tv, people protested are from the hard left and from Act up. It is a shame to see these persons did that, against Jean Paul II, I don't understand.
Delanoe was against also, but he told it was a decision voted through the Paris council and he is Paris mayor so he applied this decision. Delanoe is an homosexual, everybody knows it in France.
Look at the woman in black, in the middle of the picture, she is very angry and uggly, she took the old lady in pink's hat,she is the only person who protests in the middle of the others, she looks like a crazy person.
