Democrats have big plans if they take over in Congress
Lexington Herald Leader ^ | Sept. 2, 2006 | Margaret Talev

If Democrats win one or both houses of Congress in November's elections, as polls suggest is increasingly likely, President Bush's Washington will change dramatically.

Democrats will press to get out of Iraq. They'll mount investigations into the Bush administration's record that could rival those of Presidents Nixon in Watergate and Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky affair. They'll push a boatload of social-welfare legislation, such as raising the minimum wage, that reflects their pent-up priorities, while blocking the Republican agenda on social issues such as gay marriage, abortion and religion.

Those are some of the top plans that Democrats would pursue if they won power, according to interviews with Democratic lawmakers, strategists, staff aides and lobbyists. The tone and temper of the Democrats were reflected well by Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., the ranking Democrat on the House Government Reform Committee, in a conference call in late August. He'll become the panel's chairman if Democrats take the House.

Okay, fine. The GOP has been far from perfect. But this is no justification to sit back and allow these Satanist traitors to take over the Congress. Burning the village to save it didn't work in Vietnam and it wouldn't work in politics either.

what do you think the chances of an armed rebellion of freedom-minded and pissed-off citizenry are?

Absolutely, positively zero. Rebellion usually comes from the young and vigorous in a citizenry and remember, we now have two generations who (A) Have not been taught any U.S. history (B)Have been taught that fighting of any kind is bad (C)Have been indoctinated to the idea that a strong central government with a ruling class is what we need, and (D) It is the responsibility of every person to bow to the wishes of the smallest group so that everyone is 'equal'

"BUT your attitude of "let's sit it out to teach them a lesson" will guarantee a Democrat win and 20 years of strife and woe for the USA and western civilization."

I never said or implied anything about not voting Republican. I'm just asking for a better choice. People respond to leadership and communication and confidence (eg, Reagan), even though it may differ with their past opinion.

With our current Republican officials, we get little leadership, poor communication, and no sense of confidence in what they are doing.

Well...if that's the case, then there will be no country left on Earth that is free.

Might as well nuke the whole mess. No reason to live.

And they will have the Patriot Act along with the NAS wiretaps to do so.

Ooooooo....that was certainly a slap in the face to our broken glass republican friends.

The rats have never needed laws or Constitutional permission to act upon their greedy and dishonorable nature. Wiretaps and the Patriot Act are weapons that good people can use to stop evil people. These weapons could be used for evil in the hands of the rats, but bemoaning this possibility is the argument of gun grabbers. Sophistry at it's worst.

To be fair, Republican Congress + Bush have increased the size of government the most and fastest since Lyndon Johnson. That is BAD.

Dubya's first budget was about $2 trillion the last budget was about $2.5 trillion, and the rate of spending is going to decrease in the next years. Reagan's first budget was $550 billion and his last $950 billion...almost doubling government spending. Your are repeating DNC talking points. Stop it.

I'll bet you're proud of yourself.

My federal budget check shows that FY 2007 is $2.77 TRILLION dollars.

Bush also gets to commission the FY 2008 and FY 2009 federal budgets. FY 2009 could see us close to $3 trillion for a budget. FY 2002 (Bush's first budget) was indeed $2 trillion, but if FY 2009 is in the realm of $3 trillion, then that will mean that Bush and a [mostly] Republican Congress has presided over a 50% increase in the size of government.

These aren't DNC talking points. These are solid facts.

They've been "impeaching" Bush through the media since 2001.

True enough. But they haven't had the power nor the votes in the House to do it under pretense of law. There's a big difference between the two.

Call me a doomsayer

How about Chicken Little?

but if things don't take a dramatic turn in our favor shortly, we'll be looking at two years of Democratic rule. The tax cuts seem to be having no discernable effect on the average family,

That's a lie as demonstrated by the economy.

the news from overseas is pretty gloomy as portrayed by the major news outlets,

The media lies...I shouldn't have to say it.

and the recent in-fighting amongst Republicans bodes poorly for the upcoming mid-terms.

The rats are in worse turmoil. The media doesn't report this.

There is no chance we could lose the House because the seats are gerrymandered. The rats have more seats to defend in the Senate...18 rats to 15 GOP seats. The RNC and the GOP campaign committees have substantial money advantages and the power of the MSM continues to diminish in the age of the new media. We will hold both houses and I expect us to add seats. And it will be 100% Bush's fault.

The key word is IF, and 50% is still less than Reagan's spending record...making your original statement a big stinking pile of Barbara Streisand. Thank you for playing.

Inflation was running double digits at that time. Corrected to constant FY2000 dollars, the Carter administration's last budget was 1.22 trillion and Reagan's last budget was 1.5 trillion. Increase of 23% in 8 years.

This administration has already grown the federal budget by 27% in constant dollars in 5 years.

Whatever. I hope Howard Dean tries that one.

Actually .. the dems won't have time for their parade of investigations and impeachment proceedings .. they'll be too busy dodging bullets and bombs when the terrorists realize they will no longer have anybody stopping them.

Everybody to the firing range and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!

The worst thing for dems is to take over just ONE one part, the senate or the house. They can play games passing anything they want. Bush will veto everything that hits his desk, and the liberal cretins will throw tantrums because their "saviours" are so useless. The American people will get a good look at what kooks the democrats are and reject them thoroughly in '08. and NO I DON'T want this scenario to play out. I'm just saying there is a silver lining if it happens.

Uhm no. Bush/Repub Congress has increased non-defense spending faster than any administration since LBJ. Reagan was actually able to cut.

Looks like even CLINTON is more fiscally conservative than Good ol' Credit Card King Bush! LOL!

Don't forget all the B.S. UN treaties Clinton signed off on, that the Rats in congress could then ratify. The United States has alot of its sovereignty at stake here!
