Dubya's first budget was about $2 trillion the last budget was about $2.5 trillion, and the rate of spending is going to decrease in the next years. Reagan's first budget was $550 billion and his last $950 billion...almost doubling government spending. Your are repeating DNC talking points. Stop it.
Bush also gets to commission the FY 2008 and FY 2009 federal budgets. FY 2009 could see us close to $3 trillion for a budget. FY 2002 (Bush's first budget) was indeed $2 trillion, but if FY 2009 is in the realm of $3 trillion, then that will mean that Bush and a [mostly] Republican Congress has presided over a 50% increase in the size of government.
These aren't DNC talking points. These are solid facts.
Inflation was running double digits at that time. Corrected to constant FY2000 dollars, the Carter administration's last budget was 1.22 trillion and Reagan's last budget was 1.5 trillion. Increase of 23% in 8 years.
This administration has already grown the federal budget by 27% in constant dollars in 5 years.
