In the five years since terrorists flew hijacked airliners into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Americans have accepted inconvenience, sacrificed personal liberties and paid billions of dollars for a security clampdown that touches virtually every aspect of their lives.

And we're still not safe.

A close examination of the federal government's homeland security effort shows that there have been major accomplishments since the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. But it also reveals how vulnerable the nation remains to catastrophe.

He then traveled to an Arab state and from there to Pakistan then Afghanistan. He left there two years ago and since then has smuggled nuclear material from Mexico to the US. And note the other clock above the bottom right-pointing arrow in that same 2nd jpg that you comment on. It also has the clock hand between the numerals 1 and 2. In addition, it shows the numeral 3, with the numerals 2 and 3 being more prominent than the 1. 23 again?

Who knows though, perhaps nothing in the layout for these particular jpgs is significantly symbolizing anything of import.

What do you make of Israel and Imad? Wouldn't Israel have some images of him during his recent travels even if he travels in full head cover? Spy planes and satellites must have caught something at the terror meetings that Israel seemed to know about in advance. Or is Israel's 2006 intel on Imad based on casual human intel and reports alone? I wonder.

Things are pretty well... kind of busy lately. Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Barham Salih is coming to give a speech tomorrow, and then Lt. General Petraeus will be visiting Thursday. It's hectic, but exciting. :)

No problem, Vel. I have to get back over to IH one of these days. It took so much of my time in the past though. I spent alot of time there up until Jon Messner's death. After his death, I just found it too difficult to return. It is not the same to me without Jon.

Also, many of the jihadist supporters left, so if I go back it will be more to fraternalize with the regulars again and not to do any real work. I absolutely love the regulars -- especially Casey -- and the site is still highly addictive, but I just don't have the time to commit right now.

I want to find people like Black Flag and TraVeller2022 again. The true Black Flag and TraVeller2022, not their imitators of which there are many. Have you run across them?

I'd think all sorts of people over the years tried to find/track him. But obviously they haven't gotten close enough to get him. The recent stories make it sound like he goes to Tehran a lot and that his family is there. But if someone (America, Israel, UK, etc) came across an individual close enough to him to hold up a cell phone (or some such thing) and take a picture, I don't think those pics would make it into the public domain for fear of turning the hypothetical aspiring young photographer into a human shish kebab. After all, Imad's former "comrade in arms" who was an Iranian special forces commander in 1980s Lebanon (an assassin and super-terrorist in his own right) is now the Prez.

Hence, my comment that if one were to be in a position to have secretly taken a recent (quality) photo of him as he really appears apart from any garb or disguise, then if those pictures ever appeared in public, the person who took them probably would either choose to disappear from sight themselves, or else be made to disappear permanently.

Same goes for anyone that might ever get close enough to Bin Laden to get a fix on him. Such a pic of either man (and associated info) would more likely be sold to a government buyer for much more than a paper or news network could or would ever pay. And part of any such transaction would likely be that the pic and its owner would be protected. And therefore, neither would see the light of day.

Didn't see the other two clocks. So there are *four* clocks all frozen at the same time.

I know that this is *really* stretching it, but the minute hands look a little closer to the "one" than the "two" (by the second marks), the hour hands look closest to the "nine", and in that fourth clock you point out, the "23" is most prominent.

So, in a way, this image with 4 clocks could "read":

Well that's what I mean. Does Mossad have a more current image of Imad that hey keep it under lock and key? What about spy planes and satellites? I mean if Israel can verify Imad attended the terror meetings in January and in April of 2006 they either know what he currently looks like because they waited and tracked him or perhaps his attendance was reported to Mossad after the fact. I guess it could be after the fact.

Judging from the number style, these are 4 different views of the same clock and time setting. The time is shown as 9:07. Perhaps they were trying to show the clock setting as 9:11, but weren't smart enough to know how to set the time on an old analog clock.
