My question is why am I gaining weight?
Added muscle mass is my guess.

Your weight gain is probably muscle tissue; your ratio of muscle to fat is most likely shifting.

Muscles are denser that fat. You may slim down but if you add muscle you will actually gain weight. Better to go by how you feel and look rather than what the scale says...

Get a bathroom scale that measures %body fat as well as weight. As long as %Fat is going down or stays low, any added weight will be muscle or fluid.

If your cardio rate is too high you stop burning fat. Your body will only burn fat at a lower rate. Also, you might have peaked.
People notice sudden weight lose after cutting out carbs, but the body will adjust and you will stop losing.
Try eating smaller meals more often.

If you lost 110 pounds in two months maybe one of your limbs is starting to grow back.

muscle weighs more than fat.
You are going through a transition and need to patient and stick with the program.
The good news is that the more muscle mass you have the higher your metabolism.
So...if you stick with your cardio - or up it a bit - and keep up with building muscle, you will eventually lose more weight - and it will be fat.

I have been hitting the treadmill for about two months... I lost about 110 pounds. Two months? My God, man, get OFF the damned treadmill! Go outside and see your family...oh, you don't mean two months straight... ;)
How much time did you spend on the treadmill each day? I've been taking off weight I gained after an operation but it's been sloooooow going. But while my belt size is shrinking I too have gained weight at some points, due to the muscle gain.

What everyone else said (adding muscle, etc). Congratulations on the weight loss. How much time did you spend on the treadmill?
To: JackDanielsOldNo7
1'st, congratulations on your weight loss.
Now, for your specific question, you are putting on muscle. Muscle is more dense than fat, thus if you put on 5 lbs of muscle, it won't show up too much, but you will feel much better.
That is why weight loss programs that emphasize weight lifting encourage you to pay attention to how your clothes fit instead of what the scale says.
My wife was guilty of that. She would complain that she wasn't "loosing" weight, but I had to point out that her clothes were fitting better, so it must be working.

Check your waist measurements. When I started to work out (weights and cardio) my weight stayed the same, but I did lose a few inches from my waist. Also, have you noticed any big increases in strength so far? Like others have said, it may be muscle mass. Scales can be very misleading. You may also want to see about getting your body fat % measured.

After losing 110lbs., beginning a weight-lifting regimine to add some upper body muscle would probably help put something solid behind the loose skin. Congratulations on the weight loss!
Remember, fewer reps (up to 10) x3 with heavier weights is better than multiple reps (10~20) x3 with lighter weights.

Hitting the treadmill for two months! Damn! Can't argue with the results but I'd hate to punch one!
Seriously, I have found now that the only way I can lose pounds is to convert my money to British currency.

If you've accurately described it, then yes...muscle mass. But heavy workouts can increase appetite, so keep an eye on that. It helps to differentiate if you keep track of a waist measurement in addition to weight.

As everyone else said, you are probably gaining muscle. The good thing about that is the body has to work harder to maintain the muscle mass, thus the more muscle you have the more calories you burn even while sitting still. If you are gaining weight, but not inches, it is muscle. If you find you are getting more muscular than you want to be, try using lighter weights and do more repetitions. That will tone the muscle, but not make it bigger. If you are gaining weight and inches, you better check your diet. You might be eating more calories than you are burning.
