I'll try it next time I attempt to make cornbread (which I don't do very often, as I don't cook period).

That's a thought, but mom still makes me my favorite cake. Banana with Cream cheese frosting and well I am her loyal slave. LOL

I'm a dumper as a cook, my duaghters hate that, they'll ask for a recipe, and I have no idea how much to add.

I am exactly the same way...

I'm glad to know you are looking forward to it. I've been to Wash. state and it is beautiful, but the liberals have ruined it. You will experience culture shock, but in a good way when you get to Iowa. When are you moving, and at what college will you be teachiing classes? May I say that I'm proud of you for having the courage to change careers?

I must make meat loaf different than most people, when the kids were on their own, but still living here in town, if I wanted them home for a meal, all I had to do is call them and say meat loaf and home made scalloped potatoes on the table at 6...never failed, all 3 of them were at the table. I would laugh at them and say they are the only kids in the world that love meatloaf.

With the saliva problems it is not surprising that you would have trouble with cornbread. If it's dry I get choked on it easily myself. It's an age thing.

Well I always like hers better then mine, must be a mom trick. LOL, I have not been blessed to be a mom, and I am convinced that there is some super secret handbook floating about that I am not privy to. :)

LOL...that's funny....your mom probably does what we all do...improvise a little....just keep adding until we get it just right....

My dad makes a taco casserole with corn bread that has enough moisture that you could probably eat it.

I am not really a fan of electric whisks/mixers because you loose so much of the mixture plus they are a pain to wash up. Wherever possible I mix by hand.

I made a sultana cake this evening and that was mixed by hand.

I think the main reason I do not like the electric appliances is the washing up of them.

My mum had a Kenwood Variomatic with dough hook and everything and it seemed that half the mixture was left in it plus it took for ever to wash up.
