I am not really a fan of electric whisks/mixers because you loose so much of the mixture plus they are a pain to wash up. Wherever possible I mix by hand.

I made a sultana cake this evening and that was mixed by hand.

I think the main reason I do not like the electric appliances is the washing up of them.

My mum had a Kenwood Variomatic with dough hook and everything and it seemed that half the mixture was left in it plus it took for ever to wash up.

I have a huge Kitchenaide mixer...when I'm done everything goes in the diswasher.....except the mixer, of course.

well, you just aren't as lazy as I am...I found that if you put hot dish water in your bowl that you used and turn your mixer on low for a few seconds, it really cleans those beaters!!!
