2001 Document: Manufacturing of Chemical Warfare Decontamination Trailers (Translation)
Pentagon/FMSO website for Iraq Pre-war documents ^ | August 30 2006 | jveritas

Posted on 08/30/2006 1:26:36 PM PDT by jveritas

Document ISGQ-2004-00220151is dated 2001 and talks about military contracts with different companies that are part of the Iraqi Military Industrialization Commission (MIC). One of these contracts is the manufacturing of Chemical Warfare Decontamination Trailers. The document said that these trailers cannot be imported because of the blockade against Iraq so the Iraqis decided to manufacture on their own against UN sanctions to do so. Although the trailers can be considered by some as “defensive measures” from Chemical attacks, but these trailers are also necessary to escort the Iraqis if they were moving chemical weapons from place to another because in case of a chemical accident these decontamination vehicles must be used. In fact during Cloin Powell presentation to the UN on February 2003, he said that the 2002 satellite photos taken recently over Iraq showed presence of these Chemical decontamination trailers which indicate movement of Chemical weapons. Powell quote “In May 2002, our satellites photographed the unusual activity in this picture. Here we see cargo vehicles are again at this transshipment point, and we can see that they are accompanied by a decontamination vehicle associated with biological or chemical weapons activity. http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/02/05/sprj.irq.powell.transcript.06/index.html

Also it is hard to believe that a paranoid regime like Saddam cannot simply accept to have “defensive action” against Chemical attacks from Iran or any other nation without then have the ability to retaliate by using chemical weapons.

Below is translation of page 210 of the document although many more pages talk about manufacturing these Chemical Decontamination Trailers for the Republican Guard units.

Republic of Iraq

The Military Industrial Commission

Al Saad General Company

Number TM/ 2357

Date: 7/4/2001

To: The Military Industrial Commission/The Technical Department

Subject: The completion of a task

The Saad Company was already commissioned to design to and manufacture a prototype for the Shower and Decontamination Trailer in the middle of the year 1997 on behalf of the Chemical Class directorate, where our company did make the designs by using the style of reverse engineering and the first prototype was manufactured by the Al Nida’aa and Al Nasr Al Azim companies, and the prototype was tested by the benefited party and the directory of testing and acceptance, and the results of the testing were according to the required specifications.

And due to the success of the prototype by the end of the year 1998, our company was tasked to manufacture (50) trailers for the Department of Defense/Chemical Class Directorate in the beginning of the year 1999, where the prototype production started in the beginning of the year 1999 with cooperation with Al Faw Engineering general company and relying on the locally available material and expertise, where the work was done and all the trailers were delivered to the benefited party despite the difficulties that faced the execution.

The importance of the project is that the trailer is a military equipment that cannot be imported because of the blockade from one side and from the other side because of it is high cost in rare currency that reach and according to 1986 (9,000) dollar nine thousands dollars per one trailer, and that the project has secured the needs of the Chemical Class Directorate for these equipments in “quantity” and “quality” where the mentioned directorate distributed these trailers to its units all around the country and they are working currently with very high performance.

Please review and approve the respected Mr. the minister to honor the work team who contributed to the execution of this project and that their names are on the attached list.

With regards

Dr. Mahdi Shakr Ghali

General Director

Thanks Peach. My family in Lebanon is doing fine. Hopefully Lebanon an Israel will live in peace after Hizballah terrorist group was very weakened in this war despite all the propaganda of fake victories that they declare and that are herald by the media.

There are at least 2 million documents. Between private and government translations, I will see the "published" translated documents do not exceed 200.

RE: Your comment.......
"The impression I'm getting is that the American people no longer care-one way or the other whether the war was justified. They just want it to end-ASAP".

Yes, I hear the DBM telling me that is what I think. Then I ask myself -- Is that what I want. The answer is NO! I yell at the TV - you are not speaking for me. Do I want the killing to stop, yes of course!!! Do I place the killing sprees on the heads of the DBM and their kind, much of it I do - they enable the killing cowards to kill!! Bombs in school buses!! Shopping Ctrs!!!! Bombs in airplanes!!!! But this is not just about Iraq and Afghanistan. It never was, ---- but it is/was necessary to establish a secure Iraq.

This should have been controlled or stopped in the nineties
It did not start under clinton but it certainly accelerated and the United States of America was called a Paper Tiger!!! take a look.......

Gaffney was on C-SPAN on Monday discussing his article and he is well worth listening to...... or at least read his article.

Frank Gaffney, President, Center for Security Policy,

discusses his column in today (Tuesdays) Washington Times on how voters should elect leaders this fall who are in favor of supporting the war and funding the military, and not ?defeatists.??

WOW! Why aren't more people working on them? Why is this not a government priority? Aside from the purpose of justifying this war do you think there are things we may learn that can contribute to the WOT?

I can't help but remember the documents in the Meir Kahane killing that sat untranslated for three years and then turned out to be blueprints for bombing the WTC.

Sorry to put you on the spot.

Malia, whether I agree with you or not is moot.

The anti-war campaign has been enormously successful: so much so that 60-70% of the people now believe we should get out of Iraq, and let the Iraqis sort out their own problems.

This SAME body of people (at least 50% of them )believes there were/are WMD in Iraq.

I might add that there were 5,000 total killed and wounded in the Kenya attack on our Embassy, figures approaching the 9/11 attack in terms of total casualties.
