MEXICO CITY - Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, convinced he won't be awarded the presidency, has vowed to create a parallel leftist government and is urging Mexicans not to recognize the apparent victory of the ruling party's Felipe Calderon.

....................

Both scenarios are possibilities as the former Mexico City mayor lays out plans to create his own government to rule from the streets, with the support of thousands who are already occupying protest camps throughout downtown Mexico City.

I often wonder if President Bush would have run had he known what the future held. I don't believe there's ever been a President faced with such problems as this President faces. And it just seems to go on and on.

I was actually saying that tongue in cheek since our government has chosen to completely disregard and deny that the term 'treason' even exists.

Ah, how typical of a leftist to believe in human rights when it comes to other leftists and violence and death when it comes to anyone to the right of Marx.

Leftists and Islamists pose the same danger to civilization. These kinds of actions and rhetoric from these "people" prove this beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Thank you for the ping RWN, I appreciate it.

For everyone else who would like to see the details of exactly what Lopez Obrador has proposed doing, I posted a translation of an online news article (post #24) from the Mexico City newspaper El Universal yesterday, giving details of Lopez Obrador's speech and the specifics of what he proposes to do.

And I'm keeping a ping list for anyone who would like to be kept in the loop on major news items surrounding the Mexican post-election controversy, which is very close to a full meltdown right now. Lopez Obrador and his followers are proposing nothing less than the complete sabotage of Mexican public and economic life after losing the election. And I promise you all, they genuinely did lose it. And we're all pretty familiar with how the Left reacts to losing, aren't we? But believe me, we've never seen them go this far.

Al Gore thought of it first.

You might say...he invented it!

A Mexican civil war would be an interesting foreign challenge for an American President.

Best bet would be to sell (cash or delivered oil only) weapons to both sides for as long as possible, until their run out of peasants, oil, or money, which ever comes first.

I'm guessing that's because you would like to see the maximum amount of dead Mexicans possible.

I dont think we have a treason law any longer.

Other than specifying the possible punishments, we never did. Treason is defined in the Constitution. It's kind of unique that way. It also means that Mexico's definition is likely to be different, unless they copied ours, which is unlikely given the nature of the folks who wrote the Mexican constitution after they took over in the last revolution. ... I checked and while treason is mentioned twice in their constitution, it's not defined. Although the way it's used implies there could be domestic treason as well as treason involving a foreign power. Unlike our Constitutions' defintion which involves either making war on the US or giving aid and comfort to their enemies.

I'm guessing that's because you would like to see the maximum amount of dead Leftist Mexicans possible.

Closer.

Hopefully, a lot of ours would be sucked in to it as well, like all the commie-simps who went to Spain, pre-WWII.

Think of it as a Leftist analogy to the 'fight the terrorists in Iraq, not here' argument.

I often wonder if President Bush would have run had he known what the future held.

It's an interesting hypothetical. I wonder if anyone would want to. We often think the presidency is a glamorous plum to be enjoyed. It is, and should be, a duty that capable and responsible men should seek to fullfill on behalf of their nation.

I don't believe there's ever been a President faced with such problems as this President faces.

I think Lincoln and FDR would disagree. ;^)

Sounds the same as what the left has done here since 2000. Was Soros funding this guy as well? Did Carville run his election campaign?

Maybe not. But I am not president so it should no be expected. The biggest problem with Bush is he is not doing anything his second term, except appeasing and negotiating. Really no difference between him and Kerry, problems are popping up, and he has not been pushing solutions. Plus I would at least support a wall.

That might make sense, but you said you wanted to arm both sides, including the leftists.
