This has been posted ad nauseum.

And will be posted another dozen times before the end of the day. I can't believe WSJ still associates its good brand with Zogby's worst set of polls.

The George "Jet Puffed" Allen faithful are getting a nice preview of their Messiah.

LOL! Nice, accurate nickname. ;)

At least you are being as consistent as your hero McCain, which is to bash fellow Conservatives, in the hopes of making yourself look better...

If DUH-be-yuh is a conservative (just consider the deficits my grandchildren's grandchildren will pay) then I'm John McCain's most trusted political adviser (NOT)!
Regardless, I bash him not on principle but because he is the principal reason those same grandchildren's grandchildren will probably be fighting the GWOT BECAUSE he is managing quite well to LOSE it!
Just like his incompetent old man, who I remind you at one time had a 90 percent approval rating from his countrymen, Iraq was his for the taking when "Shock and Awe" was in progress. But, for some unexplained reason, he followed a bizarre strategy of "limited presence" (so as not to disuade our Iraqi "hosts" into thinking we were an occupying force) instead of mopping up with an all out overwhelming armed presence--therefore preventing the possibility of WMDs evaporating to Syria, quickly bagging both Sadaam and Zawkawri, and subduing any developing insurgency. But he couldn't do it.
And, although I voted for him (twice), Bush is the epitome of arrogant inability to get the job done...he listens only to his sycophantic buddies and not to the people who elected him. And, if the Washington political pundits are correct, we'll be using terms like "Speaker Pelosi" and "Majority Leader Reid" on Jan. 20, 2007 because of it!

I don't view Allen as in much trouble. And I'm pretty familiar with VA politics. So am I a dreamer?

I beg to disagree. Not only have Dems won the governorship in '01 and 05, but the GOP has lost some ground in the state legislature I think. Now Allen's seat is seen as vulnerable. Analysts say the increasing numbers of Dems in the northern VA/DC area are a bad omen for Republicans. At the moment I would say they still are a GOP leaning state but that might not last.

Don't sweat this too much. We have one saving grace. Whether Senator Allen deserves to win or not, he will win because of the gay marriage on the ballot. He is very lucky that this is important to people or he could have wound up in a very bad position. He will win for sure!!!!

Not only have Dems won the governorship in '01 and 05,

So? Are you familiar with our gubernatorial history? The last ten races have split 50/50.

The current state of affairs in Virginia is that Democrats have to do everything right and run as conservatives in order to reach their potential statewide ceiling of about 53%. It's still a Republican-leaning state.

Allen did this to himself with his idiotic apology.

LOL - no, he did it to himself with his idiotic comments to the Webb campaign operative. He might get away with it in the Senate race, but this guy ain't presidential timber.

Zogby International telephoned about 2% of respondents who completed the interactive survey to validate their personal data. To solicit participation, Zogby sent emails to individuals who had asked to join its online-polling database, inviting them to complete an interactive poll. Many individuals who have participated in Zogby's telephone surveys also have submitted e-mail addresses so they may take part in online polls.

The Interactive polls were supplemented by 20 to 50 telephone calls in 19 states (AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, MO, NV, NM, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA, WI) to ensure proper representation of all demographic groups. In Connecticut, 180 phone calls were used to supplement the Interactive polls.

VA 1996:

Congressional delegation: Seven Democrats, six Republicans. Senate: 1 Dem, 1 Repub. Gov: Pubbie

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,985490,00.html

VA 2006:

Congressional delegation: Three Democrats, eight Republicans. Senate: 0 Dem, 2 Repub. Gov: Dem

Hey Corin, you have the numbers handy. What was the switch in the state Senate and House of Delegates? I believe 2001 was the first time since Reconstruction the GOP had the majority. Is that correct?

I don't trust Zogby but Allen is damaged.

He should win in VA but he'll prolly have to spend his financial war chest to do so.

His stock for being on top of the ticket in 08 has collapsed.

I'm sure some do. I just don't sweat the small stuff, especially in August. I'd be much more worried had this gaffe occurred in mid October.

The majority of the state is conservative. Northern VA and the Norfolk area are liberal hotbeds and have very large populations. Turnout is how conservatives keep the legislature in GOP hands.

Allen is a Senate Republican who has the guts to take a stand against amnesty and open borders.

Zogby is the brother of one of the leading Arabist/Islamist spokesmen who constantly rants against Bush and anyone who says a bad word about aliens, especially Muslim ones..

Zogby guessed nearly right on a presidential election many years back, and has been riding that horse for years.

I'd give Dan Rather more credibility than Zogby.

Well, Webb is campaigning heavily here in Arlington County, which is more liberal. I went to Guitar Center this weekend and saw this in the parking lot for a resturaunt and had to snap a picture. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

If you remove Allen from Presidential consideration, then please remove McCain from your list as well. I'd say the Keating 5 scandal is just a wee bit more serious than some alleged, media-driven racist remark.
