America's Muslims Aren't as Assimilated as You Think

If only the Muslims in Europe — with their hearts focused on the Islamic world and their carry-on liquids poised for destruction in the West — could behave like the well-educated, secular and Americanizing Muslims in the United States, no one would have to worry.

So runs the comforting media narrative that has developed around the approximately 6 million Muslims in the United States, who are often portrayed as well-assimilated and willing to leave their religion and culture behind in pursuit of American values and lifestyle. But over the past two years, I have traveled the country, visiting mosques, interviewing Muslim leaders and speaking to Muslim youths in universities and Islamic centers from New York to Michigan to California — and I have encountered a different truth. I found few signs of London-style radicalism among Muslims in the United States. At the same time, the real story of American Muslims is one of accelerating alienation from the mainstream of U.S. life, with Muslims in this country choosing their Islamic identity over their American one.

A new generation of American Muslims — living in the shadow of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks — is becoming more religious. They are more likely to take comfort in their own communities, and less likely to embrace the nation's fabled melting pot of shared values and common culture.

Despite contemporary public opinion — or perhaps because of it — Muslim Americans consider Islam their defining characteristic, beyond any national identity. In this way, their experience in the United States resembles that of their co-religionists in Europe, where mosques are also growing, Islamic schools are being built, and practicing the faith is the center of life, particularly for the young generation. …

That picture reminds me of the Pakistani Mullah I saw on 60 Minutes a week after the 9/11 attacks. He said, "One day, God willing, we will live to see the flag of the Islamic Nation flying on top of America's buildings." Islam is a cancer. Freedom is the cure. Stand and fight IslamiNazism.

I have never thought they were. I know of a training camp in the area where I live that we had a huge thread on on FR a few years ago. The light that was shown on it shut it down for a while, but they are quietly returning to it as we speak.

everyone asks why dont the so called Moderate Muslims speak out against the radical Muslims.

I have a briefer explanation: it is because they fear fellow muslims much much more than they fear Americans!

(Yes, those two categories very much so can be mutually exclusive!)

You know, I was thinking the same thing. I really--and I mean this--don't want to be around here in, say, 15 years when the SHTF.

I am glad that I made a decision some 45 years ago to not have children. Of course, I had no idea such a monstrous cultural change was coming, but I'm glad that I have no offspring who will be facing this kind of future. It looks like extremely ugly times are coming.

Why do we still accept immigrants (legal) from Muslim countries? This is pure nonsense. We are inviting in trouble and sorrow and death into our country

It is a tragedy that at this critical time we have a nearly useless Congress and a completely useless President on the issue of immigration.

Since 9-11 we have added another half million immigrant muslims to our homeland. You're right - it's nonsense, criminally negligent nonsense.

Yes. They will murder their family members by (1) making it look like a mugging or other unrelated crime, (2) making the death look like suicide, and (3) tricking the offender into going back to the home country where they can be turned over to Islamic courts. In this county (1) and (2) can esp. be accomplished if the investigating agency (coroner or police) are dominated by or headed by Muslims. In this fashion honor killings and the execution of apostates can be accomplished just under the radar even in this country. This is a story you'll never see on the Nightly News with Bryant Gumball and the rest of the talking-head ignoramuses

Why would you advocate turning the nation over to the Muzzies who breed like stinking rats? A really good weapon against being buried by these turbined clowns is to out-breed them and teach the children God, country, family, and morality, industry, and citizenship.
