2 jets diverted for security concerns

A U.S. Airways jet flying to North Carolina was diverted to Oklahoma City after an air marshal subdued a passenger involved in an incident with a flight attendant, an airline spokesman said.

Law enforcement officers were questioning the passenger after the jet landed at Will Rogers World Airport, said Morgan Durrant, a U.S. Airways spokesman. He did not disclose the nature of the problem between the passenger and the flight attendant.

The Airbus A321, which left Phoenix at 6:15 a.m., was to resume its flight to Charlotte, Durrant said. There were 141 people including crew members on board.

Also Friday, an American Airlines flight from Manchester, England, to Chicago was diverted to Bangor, Maine, for security reasons, authorities said.

Wow yet another problem. Just about every day you hear of another one. Like I said, everyone is too high strung and paranoid for flying anymore. They see anyone looking Islamic they freak out. What they should do is just have seperate flights for muslims. Have a muslim pilot for a plane filled with muslims with a GPS that will automatically set off an auto pilot and self destruct over the sea if the plane diverts one millimeter off course. Allah Akbar beeyatch.

I hope they rotate flights, appearance and seats.

There was an article yesterday that they are now allowing marshals to dress for the occasion -- that is, informal, so they don't stick out.

A likely possibility, IMO.
There have been too many incidents these last few days where the Marshals had to make their presence known.

That is brilliant!

It would be interesting to "float" that idea in the MSM, and see which Democrat screeches the loudest!

Air Marshal Dress Code Changed Friday August 25, 2006 12:16 AM By LESLIE MILLER Associated Press Writer WASHINGTON (AP) - Air marshals were told Thursday they will be allowed to dress the way they want and choose their own hotels in order to protect their anonymity while on missions. Federal Air Marshal Service chief Dana Brown, who has been in the job for five months, said he was changing the rules, starting Sept. 1, after listening to air marshals' concerns. In a memo to the air marshals, Brown said the dress code was changed to ``allow you to blend in...

You cause a ruckus on an airplane, it should be 10 years minimum in prison.

Its doubtful that they'll even get 10 days.

LOL- see #34

I't sounds now as though the dynamite was in his check on luggage- so wasn't in the passenger part of the plane.

I wonder if this is the same flight and person as in this article from Houston:

http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/3736626.html

>>Bomb Scare Causes Anxious Moments At Texas Airport
August 25, 2006)--Life at Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport is getting back to normal after an early morning security alert.

Officials say a bomb-sniffing dog detected a suspicious scent on a bag that had just arrived from Argentina aboard a Continental Airlines flight just before dawn Friday.

A search of the bag and its owner, however, turned up an unspecified item that had a scent characteristic similar to dynamite.

Authorities determined the item posed no threat and stood down from their alert and operations are returning to normal. <<
