Aer Lingus flight evacuated in Ireland
,P. ROBERT BARR
Associated Press LONDON - An Aer Lingus flight from New York with 239 passengers aboard was evacuated in Ireland Friday following a threat against the aircraft, airport authorities said.
Aer Lingus Flight 112 was evacuated during a scheduled stop at 2:50 a.m. EDT at Shannon airport in western Ireland, said airport spokesman Eugene Pratt. The plane was en route to Dublin.
The threat "came to a police station in Dublin, and referred to some explosives aboard that specific flight," Pratt said. No trace of explosives was found in the initial search.

What makes me sad is to think that the reason the "greatest generation" was so great is because their lives where such a daily pain-in-the-you-know-what.....and that the relative comfort we enjoy today vs. our enemies is what makes us weak.
OTOH, I'm comforted by the fact that there are still tough kids signing up for duty in the armed forces. But will that be enough?

No, it won't be enough. All of us have to have the moral clarity coupled and the backbone to save ourselves and our country. Without hesitation. We're paying the price for our "comforts".

That was fantastic! I'd like to read that to the woman who was complaining about losing her 'expensive face creams' to airport security!

I've been waiting for the Muslim Jihadi's to work it out - they are being trained by the IRA so I guess it follows.
Interesting -- do you have a link? I'd like to read about that.

Sounds like the left trying to stall Military traffic to me. They have been protesting about Shannon being a stop over for our Troops for a while.

This was published in the UK Daily Express with some photo's. I don't read it but my brother in law does and I read it there. I must admit I didn't take too much notice as I had assumed they were anyway.
I've checked but it hasn't been posted on Free Republic.

i'VE FLOWN SEVERAL TIMES SINCE 9/11 (oops sorry for caps), and I have had similar experiences, no griping, or whining about long lines, and actually the lines seemed to move along well. There was, everytime, an aroura of calm and I don't know about everyone else, but what I was thinking, while waiting in line to be searched was, "this is the fault of terrorists, we are at war!" I assumed everyone else was thinking similar things.

Actually, it is not hellish at all. The worst part is taking off the shoes.
A minor inconvenience in the interest of getting us where we need to go alive.

My first flight after 9/11 was at Thanksgiving of that year.
It was easy to go through security and very calm. The only difference was I sensed an alertness on the part of the passengers that did not exist before. It still exists to this day.
My 85 year old grandmother was on the first flight from Boston to Phoenix following 9/11. She figured it was a pretty safe time to fly, but if something did happen, she had lived a good life!

As appealing as your scenario is, I think I have a better idea. Why don't we hand out handguns to each and every passenger who boards a plane. These weapons would have only ONE bullet and can not be reloaded. That way, everyone has an equal opportunity to thwart an in-air event, and anyone who attempts to take a plane out has an entire cabin full of armed people to overcome.
Just a thought.

Noone, not a bad Idea. Im just sick of being a Lamb locked in a can at 10,000 feet, while security checks are not allowing profiling.
I dont give a crap anymore, and relish the thought of confronting one of these SOB's face to face.
I personaly know a few that feel like I do, just itching to give a "dry run" terrorist a beating he will never forget.
I was at a movie theater and saw a Muslim staring at a poster for the Trade center movie. (Pic of the two towers.) Standing in front of the poster, smiling, with his wife or maybe his girlfriend next to him. I wanted to wipe the smirk off his face, but I know I would be in jail for it.
What we need is a good movie, showing the battle of Faluja, maybe a few thousand dirtbags getting what they deserve from the US Marines. Something we can celebrate. Getting sick of muslims celebrating their hit on us.
