Malkin Upsets Russian Hockey Federation

Background information: Russian Olympic hockey star Yevgeny Malkin left his Magnitogorsk club to go play for the NHL, hoping to be on the Pittsburgh Penguins. This made the RHF, which is headed by former Soviet goalie Vladislav Tretjak, mad, and Russian newspapers have been commenting on his sudden disappearance. After much discussion on his whereabouts, Malkin was found in Helsinki, Finland clearing his US visa.

My question is, why didn't they get so mad when Ovechkin joined the NHL? Or when the dozens of other Russian hockey players joined? Why single out Malkin?
