SOME WEDNESDAY SPIN! Most in US see no tie between Iraq, terror war: poll Tue Aug 22, 10:29 PM ET A majority of Americans no longer see a link between the war in Iraq and Washington's broader anti-terrorism efforts despite President George W. Bush's insistence the two are intertwined, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll released on Tuesday. Fifty-one percent of those surveyed said the war in Iraq was separate from the U.S. government's war on terrorism. The findings were a considerable shift from polls taken in 2002 and early 2003, when a majority considered the two to be linked, The New York Times said. As recently as June, opinion was evenly split, with 41 percent on both sides of the divide. Now only 32 percent considered Iraq to be a major part of the fight against terrorism, the newspaper said. According to the poll, 46 percent said the Bush administration had concentrated too heavily on Iraq and not enough on terrorists elsewhere. Fifty-three percent said going to war in the first place was a mistake, up from 48 percent in July, The New York Times said. Bush's approval ratings remained unchanged at 36 percent. His popularity has been damaged by the unpopular war in Iraq, in which the U.S. military death toll is 2,610. As recently as Monday, Bush defended the invasion of Iraq as crucial to preventing more domestic terror attacks. "If you believe that the job of the federal government is to secure this country, it's really important for you to understand that success in Iraq is part of securing the country," Bush said during a news conference. The unpopularity of the Iraq war has many Republicans nervous about the party's chances in the November midterm elections in which Democrats are seeking to retake control of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. The Times/CBS News poll of 1,206 adults was conducted Thursday through Monday and had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
It's not the Old South anymore. They might.
I'd hate it, but I'd have to do the same as you said. It would stink though. RINOs can't be Presdinet, they don't have the majority of party support. It won't happen.
"Who knows the Slick Willys better than Newt"?
I think its vice versa. Remember, B& H have his FBI file.
your Awesome you make better view points then I could ever dream of
Newt's lips certainly know Hellary's backside!
Depends on if he can cook as well as my late BIL...a Brooklyn Sicilian, relocated to the heart of Dixie.
One of the finest cooks, and also one of the finest people, I ever had the good fortune to meet.
I said NOTHING about socialized medicine. I was objecting to his attitude that young couples starting out should give up their ipods to get health insurance.
He is totally out-of-touch on the realities. Most young couples I know planning families are working their tails off and doing without.
I'd rather work in the political system. In some ways we are SOooo close, but we are in danger of being jerked out if we don't watch it...Of course many of our reps are to blame, but I don't think demonstrations are the way our side fixes that. We work within the primaries to get the right ones nominated.
thats true but i was talking on voteing records
I never read "Feminine Mystique". I read the book
"Fascinating Womanhood". Being a woman who loves
manly men feels soooooo right.
Married to the same manly man for 32 years now.
I do not know his first wife's name. His second was Donna Hanover.
Rudy is nothing but a tough SOB. But I too am concerned about his socially liberal tendancy's, expecially as it relates to II and SS for illegals.
Exactly. The media is all Rudy Rudy Rudy, John John John. But when it comes down to the Republican voters, who are the only ones that matter. They won't pick a RINO over a real conservative. Just won't happen. No evidence to suggest it will, and I believe election results more than some vague poll that doesn't mention where the candidates stand on the issues. Election results indicate GOP voters will not pick a RINO over a real Republican who is a conservative, and just as strong on the war as Bush and other real conservatives.
Nothing wrong with doing without...they can survive. Just don't expect others to pay for your health problems.
You just remmber who it was that broight this party to power in 94 and it wasent mr 9/11 so shove it!
MARK STEYN!!!
I NEVER said ANYTHING about other people paying for my health problems!!!

Something is wrong with their plan if they are having children before they can provide for them.
By "team" I MEAN Party. The GOP Plank IS the country. The GOP stands for traditional founder values. That IS the party. And I was talking about an individuals aspirations over the wellfare of the party. When an individual puts their personal agenda before the party, that's someone I won't vote for. And for the past 12 years, the GOP has represented strong traditional conservative founder based values found in the Constitution. That IS the team I want to belong to. That's the GOP. And that's best for America.
