RUSH LIMBAUGH LIVE THREAD, WEDNESDAY August 23, 2006

SOME WEDNESDAY SPIN! Most in US see no tie between Iraq, terror war: poll Tue Aug 22, 10:29 PM ET A majority of Americans no longer see a link between the war in Iraq and Washington's broader anti-terrorism efforts despite President George W. Bush's insistence the two are intertwined, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll released on Tuesday. Fifty-one percent of those surveyed said the war in Iraq was separate from the U.S. government's war on terrorism. The findings were a considerable shift from polls taken in 2002 and early 2003, when a majority considered the two to be linked, The New York Times said. As recently as June, opinion was evenly split, with 41 percent on both sides of the divide. Now only 32 percent considered Iraq to be a major part of the fight against terrorism, the newspaper said. According to the poll, 46 percent said the Bush administration had concentrated too heavily on Iraq and not enough on terrorists elsewhere. Fifty-three percent said going to war in the first place was a mistake, up from 48 percent in July, The New York Times said. Bush's approval ratings remained unchanged at 36 percent. His popularity has been damaged by the unpopular war in Iraq, in which the U.S. military death toll is 2,610. As recently as Monday, Bush defended the invasion of Iraq as crucial to preventing more domestic terror attacks. "If you believe that the job of the federal government is to secure this country, it's really important for you to understand that success in Iraq is part of securing the country," Bush said during a news conference. The unpopularity of the Iraq war has many Republicans nervous about the party's chances in the November midterm elections in which Democrats are seeking to retake control of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. The Times/CBS News poll of 1,206 adults was conducted Thursday through Monday and had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

What I learned is that most of these guys do not want sympathy. They love appreciation. Look them square in the eye and thank them for their service.

Genuinely tell them you will be there for them if they need you.

I gotta stop...I am about to cry.

Check my facts? So that poll is gospel??? How about a new poll where the candidates positions are listed then lets see what happens.

Based on that poll, you believe that most Republicans don't care at all about Conservative Judges, or gay marriage, or partial birth-abortion, or embryonic stem cell research, or any other social conservative issues. If you really believe that, then you do not have a clue what the majority of Republican voters believe. And if that poll is gospel, where was it taken? Which states Republicans was it taken from? Barely red states and blue state RINOs? It wasn't RINOs and social issue vacants that got Bush elected in 2004. It was the conservative movement, and that movement is the majority of the GOP. Fact check THAT!

Simple - by out classing the field, and by the majority of Republicans being sick and tired of abortion being the basis for picking a President.

And Rudy has made it possible by stating that he wants judicial conservatives on the Court and that any move towards abortion etc...will have to come thru the legislature.

If SO...we would be in just as bad of shape...or worse (no not worse)..than Hitlery.

Shoot...I could see Feingold...if McCain didn't get the Rep nomination...putting McCain as his VP!!!!

Perhaps the fact that I watched the attack of 9/11 in person and had worked in and around those buildings for almost 20yrs and knew some of the people murdered that day clouds my judgement, but I do believe that right now the war is everything. I'm not just talking about the Battle of Iraq. I'm talking about the war against a people whose ideology at worst, commands them to kill us and at best tells them to stand by and watch it happen.

You will end up with Hillary has POTUS...and this country will be socialist.. Is that what you want?

Is that what the Republicans want? Then tell the powers in the party to get off of any support for these RINOs & make sure you don't sign in any amnesty because if you do, you are toast.

Clint, that pom is melting my heart. I bet though, if it included a sound file with it, I would be reminded why I hate them.

Newt Gingrich is a WRITER...and IDEA guy.

He loves to hear himself talk...so I am sure if he were POTUS..he would have a presser every week..and a "major" speech every month on primetime TV..

BUT, he hasn't run a STATE...and he has a LOUSY personal background.

Newt is going around bashing Bush and getting chummy with Hillary...and THAT is who you say you would vote 3rd party in protest...if he's not the candidate???

I hope you know how to spell Ralph Nader or Pat Buchanan's name..to write in.
