RUSH LIMBAUGH LIVE THREAD, WEDNESDAY August 23, 2006

SOME WEDNESDAY SPIN! Most in US see no tie between Iraq, terror war: poll Tue Aug 22, 10:29 PM ET A majority of Americans no longer see a link between the war in Iraq and Washington's broader anti-terrorism efforts despite President George W. Bush's insistence the two are intertwined, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll released on Tuesday. Fifty-one percent of those surveyed said the war in Iraq was separate from the U.S. government's war on terrorism. The findings were a considerable shift from polls taken in 2002 and early 2003, when a majority considered the two to be linked, The New York Times said. As recently as June, opinion was evenly split, with 41 percent on both sides of the divide. Now only 32 percent considered Iraq to be a major part of the fight against terrorism, the newspaper said. According to the poll, 46 percent said the Bush administration had concentrated too heavily on Iraq and not enough on terrorists elsewhere. Fifty-three percent said going to war in the first place was a mistake, up from 48 percent in July, The New York Times said. Bush's approval ratings remained unchanged at 36 percent. His popularity has been damaged by the unpopular war in Iraq, in which the U.S. military death toll is 2,610. As recently as Monday, Bush defended the invasion of Iraq as crucial to preventing more domestic terror attacks. "If you believe that the job of the federal government is to secure this country, it's really important for you to understand that success in Iraq is part of securing the country," Bush said during a news conference. The unpopularity of the Iraq war has many Republicans nervous about the party's chances in the November midterm elections in which Democrats are seeking to retake control of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. The Times/CBS News poll of 1,206 adults was conducted Thursday through Monday and had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

I'm sorry, I have not read the entire thread. Rush played an excerpt of one of the Fox journalists, is there any word of negotiation?

I know Bush doesn't negotiate with terrorists.... I fear the worst for these two.

I was a competitive swimmer back in the 60's. Inner-city school fore a while ....... lots of cool black guys..... but, they could mostly NOT swim.

BUT............. let's face it, they were hardly ever near a pool, never wanted to be............. AND most of them have/had a more dense body, less bouyancy, so floating and swimming is/was more difficult.

****

But The Sundance Kid couldn't swim either. ;-)

Sundance: "I can't swim".

Butch: "What are you kidding me..... the fall will probably kill you!"

Myopia, sometimes called short-sightedness[1] or near-sightedness, is a refractive defect of the eye in which collimated light produces image focus in front of the retina when accommodation is relaxed. This may be caused by a defect of the cornea (generally where the cornea protrudes too far outward from the eye) or from elongation of the eye structure itself (generally the eye is too long).

It was played during the commercials/news break. Rush didn't actually talk about it, it was just reported during his break on his show.

No statement yet. I think the WH Presser upcoming at 2 p.m. will be the first "official" statement. If you read the statement (if you can without gagging) which is on the http://foxnews.com website, it says there is 72 hours beyond which if there is no result, we will just "have to wait"...

Myopia, This may be caused by a defect of the cornea

Also caused by Pom ownership.

Um, FAR RIGHT??? Exactly who do you think it is that brought about a GOP majority in the 1990s? Moderates? RINOs? The "far right" you refer to, are the ones that took action and created the GOP majority of the past 12 years. The President has the ability to thwart the will of the American people. Most Americans oppose gay marriage. Most americans oppose partial birth abortion. Most Americans support constructionist conservative Judges. Most Americans support the death penalty. When the Congress bends to the will of the American people and pass legislation regarding those issues, Giuliani would veto them. And he would not put forth Constructionist Judges. The FAR RIGHT you refer to is NOT the FAR right. It's the RIGHT PERIOD. The majority of the Republican party IS the fiscal and social conservative movement that you think is FAR to the right. I'm sure not FAR to the right. I'm not some radical zealot. I support nothing that isn't protected by the Constitution and the Bible, with which the Constitution was written in mind and based upon. If that makes me "far right" then most of the people here and most registered Republicans, are "far right", based on your criteria. All polls, even liberal polls, show that 80% or more of the American people want strict constructionist Judges. 85% or more oppose partial birth abortion, and a sgrowing majority oppose abortion at all unless it's from incest or life of the mother now a days, 85% or more of Americans oppose gay marriage, hence the gay marriage bans in several blue states. And that's ALL Americans, not just Republicans. So, what you think is the "far right" isn't "far", and isn't exclusivly "right", since many Democrats and Independents share those views also, and Giuliani opposes them. The President effects all those things, and the day the GOP puts up a person who only believes half the GOP plank, it's sold it's soul down the river.

There's a reason th GOP plank IS what it is. It got that way because MOST Republicans believe in it. And Giuliani does not agree with half of it. 80% of Republicans agree with ALL of it, and they will not check those values at the door just because Giuliani did his job well on 9-11.

"Racist, bigoted, intolerant homophobes."

Aren't we all? :) We are Republicans, so according to liberals, we're automatically that, even though libs behave that way and we don't.
