Um, FAR RIGHT??? Exactly who do you think it is that brought about a GOP majority in the 1990s? Moderates? RINOs? The "far right" you refer to, are the ones that took action and created the GOP majority of the past 12 years. The President has the ability to thwart the will of the American people. Most Americans oppose gay marriage. Most americans oppose partial birth abortion. Most Americans support constructionist conservative Judges. Most Americans support the death penalty. When the Congress bends to the will of the American people and pass legislation regarding those issues, Giuliani would veto them. And he would not put forth Constructionist Judges. The FAR RIGHT you refer to is NOT the FAR right. It's the RIGHT PERIOD. The majority of the Republican party IS the fiscal and social conservative movement that you think is FAR to the right. I'm sure not FAR to the right. I'm not some radical zealot. I support nothing that isn't protected by the Constitution and the Bible, with which the Constitution was written in mind and based upon. If that makes me "far right" then most of the people here and most registered Republicans, are "far right", based on your criteria. All polls, even liberal polls, show that 80% or more of the American people want strict constructionist Judges. 85% or more oppose partial birth abortion, and a sgrowing majority oppose abortion at all unless it's from incest or life of the mother now a days, 85% or more of Americans oppose gay marriage, hence the gay marriage bans in several blue states. And that's ALL Americans, not just Republicans. So, what you think is the "far right" isn't "far", and isn't exclusivly "right", since many Democrats and Independents share those views also, and Giuliani opposes them. The President effects all those things, and the day the GOP puts up a person who only believes half the GOP plank, it's sold it's soul down the river.
There's a reason th GOP plank IS what it is. It got that way because MOST Republicans believe in it. And Giuliani does not agree with half of it. 80% of Republicans agree with ALL of it, and they will not check those values at the door just because Giuliani did his job well on 9-11.
And Giuliani does not agree with half of it. 80% of Republicans agree with ALL of it,
Oh really !!!!!!!!! (want to check your facts?)
For the 2008 Republican Presidential Nomination whom would you support? (Republicans Only)
Rudy Giuliani 30%
John McCain 20%
Newt Gingrich 17%
Mitt Romney 6%
Bill Frist 5%
George Allen 3%
Rick Santorum 1%
George Pataki 1%
Chuck Hagel 1%
Undecided 16%
Sometimes we just gotta play the cards we're dealt. If, and granted it's a big if, Guilliani wins the GOP nod, would you vote for him? I would.
