Yeah -- this nonsense that "traditional values" around the world are breaking down because Eeevul Amerika is attacking them is as idiotic, and as pernicious, as the notion that failed nations are poor because Eeevul Amerika stole their wealth.

In both cases, the rhetoric about Eeevul Amerika is a cover for failings in the local government and/or society.

Perhaps it's because you post 10 threads a day.

Yeah, but I missed the part about somebody holding a gun to your head forcing you to read them.

We have in our country people completely unhappy with its existence, despite the fact its given them lives most people in the rest of the world can only envy. And I challenge our home-grown America-haters: if our country is so terrible as you maintain, why it is tens of thousands of the people the world over still want to come here? That ought to shut them up.

Christian leader James Kennedy wrote a book "What If Jesus Had Never Been Born?" and it was very inspiring. Everybody loves to point out the bad legacies of Christianity, such as the crusades, but the good is truly astonishing.

I think you've come as close as anyone to explaining "Why the World Hates America".

IMHO, Medved missed the whole side of the barn by not pinpointing the source of world's apparent disaffection. A better title would have been "Why the Elites of the World Hate America". The opinion makers and influence peddlers around the world are socialists; propaganda is their stock in trade. They have the ability and desire to mold weak minds, who could just as easily be persuaded to be on our side. The weak minded don't hate America, they hate the image the elites are painting of America. The wannabe world governors are hard at work.

Take our own domestic enemies; the MSM being a prime example. They were socialist sympathizers for much of the 20th century, and the 21st century hasn't seen a lessening of their efforts. Far from it. They continue their attack on America; in fact, seem to have redoubled their efforts. To what purpose???

Yeah, but I missed the part about somebody holding a gun to your head forcing you to read them.

That ain't all you missed.

I merely suggested that the people who complained did so because you post more threads than the rest of the site combined.

Some folks are just convinced that the stuff they read is the important stuff and need to share that with all the poor slobs who "just don't get it".

Just for the record, I skip 99% of them if I happen to notice you put them up.

I sure wish you'd do us all a favor and make it a perfect hundred. For the record, most of the threads I post get 100+ responses, so people like you would appear to be in the extreme minority.

But we're not our using our weapons to terrorize people for no good reason.

I understand that. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy we have them.

The point is that all Men are created equal. Because of the Law of Nations, countries are considered sovereign (and equal) as well.

No nation has the right to force its will on another.... period. No nation has a right to tell another it may possess this or it can't posses that......period.

This doesn't mean we can't declare war in order to protect oursleves. There are Constitutional provisions for it. In fact, that's about the only time we can justify the use of force.

No matter how they're reasonable they seem, 'police actions' are Unconstitutional uses of force. Government cannot give itself more authority than it actually posses and decide it can be the boss of the world. Not only does it lack that authority, it creates enemies that it need not create.

We need to quit with the 'global community' BS and start worrying about We the People.

If he had (correctly) framed it in those terms, his bullet point about "popular culture" would have fit -- naturally, imams and commisars and other grand high supreme exalted pooh-bahs don't like the cultural message of personal autonomy.

I personally believe that this America hatred, while it does exist to a certain extent, gets vastly overstated by the scum in the media, who have big mouths and always exaggerate and project their own opinions onto other people.

For whatever reason, the media attracts an inordinate number of malcontents and losers.

Can I vote for this one?

If you could, it would win, which is probably why you can't.

That's exactly it. My overseas friends are always telling me to ignore what I see in the media because the media is selective in what they film and show just like it is here.

As I understand it the EU has imposed some pretty draconian laws on the european media that crimminalizes unfavorable reporting of european governments.

Heh. Not to mention a Constutution that (used to)guarantee that unalienable right along with many others. No small wonder our Constitution has been under persistant attack by the wannabe world governors. The power of the pen in the hands of foreign and domestic enemies has all but brought our republic to its knees.

FWIW, free market forces seem to be taking their toll on at least our domestic MSM enemies. Everywhere you look, bottom lines are shrinking and stock prices are tanking. That will likely be a good thing in the long run. Next thing you know, the Ministry of Information will be looking for gummint(taxpaper) subsidies to bail out their "critical" industry(can you say NPR?). Another reason we need to keep Dims out of Washington DC.

Media disinformation to the contrary, the anti-Americanism is not new:when President Carter imposed economic sanctions/an Olympic boycott against the USSR in the wake of the 1979 invasion of Afghanistan, the European media characterized him as--yes--a "cowboy." Europeans could scarcely contain their glee when Carter's attempt to rescue kidnapped American diplomats fell apart in Desert One. Reagan's decision to deploy Cruise missles in response to the USSR's SS-20s--a decision initially requested by the Germans during the Carter Administration--was greeted by Eurowhines that Reagan was a "cowboy." Bush 41 was a "cowboy" for ejecting Saddam from Kuwait. In 1993, President Clinton was called a "cowboy" for showering Baghdad with missiles in response for Saddam's attempt to assasinate Bush 41.
Many European countries--France, Italy, Spain--have populations that voted heavily--ten to twenty percent--for Stalinist national communist parties right up to the end of the cold war. Virtually all European countries have socialist parties far to the left of anything here at home. The left owns the European media and is biased and dishonest in its reporting on America: if you got your news from the British, French or German media, how could you NOT hate America?

I love America and the older I get the more I love her. To me America is a miracle country. Take New York City - every nationality in the world lives there and they get along. Most Americans love animals and I think we are the only country in the world that punishes people for cruelty to animals. And the whole world watches when every-day Americans like me go to the polls to vote. And I hate Americans who hate America, but notice that they never leave to live in some other country. God Bless America and God Bless our troops!

Isn't that evident with all the U.N. leaders that cheered Syria's President Basher with a standing applause during his last international speech.

These socialist nitwits were cheering one of the worlds largest sponsors of terrorism.
