Only one commercial can top the sheer hatred our readers have for the winner of this year's worst-commercial contest. Yes, only creepy, toenail-snapping Digger the Dermatophyte is more hated than the horrendous repetition that is this year's winning loser, the HeadOn headache remedy commercial.
In case you haven't seen it (you can find it on YouTube, but really, why would you want to?), the commercial is as insanely simple as it is annoying. A female voice repeats "HeadOn: Apply directly to the forehead!" three times as a blissed-out smug woman rolls what appears to be a Bonne Bell LipSmacker on her head.
What in the name of a glue stick in disguise is going on there? First off, does anyone believe that this works any better than, say, rubbing your head with your hand? Who decided that a commercial where only the product name and tagline are repeated over and over was good advertising? What kind of drugs is the model in the ad actually on? And does anyone know anyone who has ever, ever used this product, or seen it for sale anywhere outside these ads?

Charo has come a long way since Xavier Cugat.........
I believe that ad is for Staples. I look forward to it every year too!
Add me to the list of folks who hate that blasted "Head On" commercial!
I hate the OnStar commercials too. I think that would be the world's worst job - to be an Onstar operator. Everyone is always hysterical or they've locked their kids in the car.
Geeze, you're kidding, right? Ugh, it's just a tad less repulsive than the Little Richard one.
Don't Forget the Alice cooper ad.
"I thought you said schools out for ever."-girl
"No. I said schools out for summer."-alice.
What is the Head-On commercial about? I saw part of it once, and I was clueless... still am.
Of the commercial world...
Not at all! I love Charo. We share a fashion vision.
The ad that sends me around the bend the most these days are the ones for Dr Scholl's gels....i HATE the forced rhyming with the word 'gel'as well as turning the word into a verb.
waitress:Ohhh mister you must be gellin'!
guy who waitress dumped hot coffee on: Yes, even tho there's considerable redness and swellin'
I never saw that Alice Cooper ad...Perhaps they will run it yet, as the kids still have a few weeks until school begins....but I do think you make a great point...I remember the commercials, but cannot remember 'who' the commercials are for...so what good is the commercial, other than amusement, if I cannot remember who it was for...
"I just want a melon."
Ads with Jamaicans ROCK!
"No short sleeve suits!"
Yup. Vonnage is crap. And they send a lot of crap in the mail too... sorta like AOL.
The Back to School commercial is for Staples, and it is a good one.
They should take all E.D. commercials off the air. No one would want to go to bed with any of the guys in the ads.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! I forgot about him!
*rolls into the fetal position*
LOL....I forget his name. Isn't he the character who peddles "free money from the Feds" book?
No offense intended in my earlier post. You may be a little too young to remember that "Coochie Coochie!" was her tag line on shows like Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In back in the early seventies. I don't think you were around back then.
161 more and you'll be ordered to get rid of them like the women did last week. There is a thread about that somewhere here on FR.
