Only one commercial can top the sheer hatred our readers have for the winner of this year's worst-commercial contest. Yes, only creepy, toenail-snapping Digger the Dermatophyte is more hated than the horrendous repetition that is this year's winning loser, the HeadOn headache remedy commercial.
In case you haven't seen it (you can find it on YouTube, but really, why would you want to?), the commercial is as insanely simple as it is annoying. A female voice repeats "HeadOn: Apply directly to the forehead!" three times as a blissed-out smug woman rolls what appears to be a Bonne Bell LipSmacker on her head.
What in the name of a glue stick in disguise is going on there? First off, does anyone believe that this works any better than, say, rubbing your head with your hand? Who decided that a commercial where only the product name and tagline are repeated over and over was good advertising? What kind of drugs is the model in the ad actually on? And does anyone know anyone who has ever, ever used this product, or seen it for sale anywhere outside these ads?

I kinda enjoy the pillagers in the Capital One commercials, myself.
I like the one with Charo, but the rest aren't too great. And I detest the "head on" commercial. I mute it every time.
All commercials for drugs should be banned, most are too coy and irritating anyway.
"Get in mah belly!"
"Meow Mix" gets my vote for worst in the history of commercials.
That Digger the Dermatophyte commercial grosses me out totally.
I love the one with the dachsund and his little dachsund shaped stuffed animal.
Do you know how I could find out the name of the actor in a particular commercial? There is a new one out by Progressive - gray-haired man with the "black box" telling you that you don't know what's in the box. I think I know the man, but have tried to find out how to get his name and have come up with nada.
That head-on commercial is HORRIBLE - and could be responsible for headaches. Maybe that's their goal.
Sorry...no idea. I haven't seen the Progressive commercial as yet.
I hate Bob and his erectile dysfunction ads. Although, I keep wondering how someone can go through daily life after being in that commercial.
There is one commercial I have always liked...its not new, I think its been around for a few years, but they run it only when it gets near to the time when the kids are getting ready to go back to school...I dont even remember who the commercial is for...but music starts to play, and its "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year", which is of course Christmas music, but in this commercial that song is played at the return to school time, because it shows that either the mom or the dad are delirous with joy at the prospect of their children returning to school...the children however, are glum looking and quite sad, and look shell shocked, that summer is over, and its time to return to school...
Hope he got those hippies, LOL.
I also HATE the Vonnage commercial with the stupid repetitious song.
Personally, I scream back at the tv whenever one of those inane "tell me" commercials for BP comes on.
My all time favorite is the Geico commercial with the Cavemen.
'Rhoid on!! Applied directly to the anus.
'Rhoid on!! Applied directly to the anus.
BTW, the Digger the Dermatophyte commercial disgusts me too. Have they stopped airing this one? There has been quite a negative reaction to that one.
While advertisers try to associate brand recall using irritating commercials, I wonder if consumers are ever going to buy a product whose advertising irritates/displeases them.
