A Day in the Life of President Bush - (photos) - 8.22.06

After calling President Karzai of Afghanistan to discuss security measures and a potential visit, President Bush left the White House early this afternoon to go to Minnesota. In Minnetonka, he participated in a panel discussion on health care, and also signed an Executive Order to help increase the transparency of America's health care system - empowering Americans to find better value and better care. The order will require various federal agencies to compile information about the quality and price of health care they pay for, and share that information with their customers and each other. The White House website has posted a FACT SHEET about this order.

The President also attended a fundraiser for Minnesota Congressional Candidate, State Senator Michele Bachman after the panel discussion, and stopped for a frozen custard in Wayzata.

Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose!

No problem........I lived in the TC's for 6 years, and have had all four kids (well one just moving now) living there, so the area is VERY familiar to me.

In fact, young Eric could have ridden a bike and gotten to where the President was today. :)

I have a friend in Minnesota...and I would just love to visit there. It's just soooooo far away from Texas! LOL! Plus, there's only about 2 weeks out of the year in which the weather is warm enough to make a visit....JUST KIDDING--but not by much! :D

Thus, Tonka trucks. :)"

Oh it sounded like a joke...

Amazing you live in Britain Snugs, and know that fact.

Well, everyone. It looks like Armageddon will have to wait another year. I hope all these "end of the world" prophets wake up tomorrow feeling like total dolts.

My mom and my brother came out for my birthday. They were watching Jerry and brought him along. He turned 5 months yesterday, and he's already acting like a guy. He's discovered how to spit and amused himself that way for about forty-five minutes.

I'll try to pop in for a little while tomorrow, but I might be scurrying around getting ready for my trip to D.C. I fly out Thursday morning.

Hope you enjoy the new "Flags" collage. If I don't see you all, have a great week.

TOO funny! I really love that first one. On a serious note, I am soooooo glad that these guys take their job so seriously! It makes me feel more secure about this president's safety.

Oh, C'mon! All you have to do is jump on I-35 and you're there in two shakes of a lamb's tail, LUV. :)

Now seriously.........about that weather.......it's hotter in MN in the summer than it is here. It's just that the winter is longer, and spring and fall are..........well, itty bitty.

It's a lovely state, though, and the TC's are a wonderful place to live.

A lot of our ice cream is made from non milk fat in other words vegetable fat like the stuff you get in coffee whitener.

Most of the ice cream vans sell this type of ice cream and also the cheaper supermarket varieties are that as well. If it has milk or cream in it we call it dairy ice cream.

With the artificial flavours available it is not always possible to tell the difference except to me there is an after taste with the non milk fat type.

I remember learning that when I was young and my oldest brother went away to college there (same place I went).

I thought it was really cool, since Tonka trucks were so famous, and Minnetonka is...........well...........not. :)

***such courage as President Bush has shown is a very rare bird, and it may be a generation before we see its like again in the White House. *** He WILL be vindicated! We can only hope that it will be because his successor in the WH carries on his work.

Of course he will be vindicated. These are perilous times and we need another great man or woman as our President to lead us through the next eight years after President Bush leaves.

I noticed that I-35 runs from one end of the country to the other. And the gettin' off place is where I would need to be. :D

It's hotter there than the 100+ weather that we have had here? Sheesh...what a crazy place. I don't see how people survive those winters, though. ***brrrrr***

What are the TC's? :D

May I add a hearty AMEN to what you all have said?

There is NO doubt in my mind that President Bush is on the RIGHT course, and that history will prove him to be visionary and right on target for what needed to be done at this time.
