If I remember correctly, it was Jimmy Carter who pulled the border patrol off of the border.
"We can't have people like this moving here....."
Funniest thing about that link you posted, I couldn't a single one of those that claimed to be an ILLEGAL ALIEN.
No one has any idea of how many Mexicans there are in Mexico. Since 1965, about 25 million have come here that we know about. In addition, I would guess (and my guess is just as good as the government's, maybe better)there are about 25 million illegals presently here.
Bottom line, right now, there are probably getting to be about 100 million Mexicans in the Unites States, give or take 10 million, legally, illegally, or the offspring of same. I would be delighted to be proven wrong, but I and the highly paid technocrats of my government are, scientifically speaking, just not far apart in ignorance of this fascinating subject because of the illegal immigration question.
Any attempt, well-meaning or not, to compare Mexican immigration to any other previous immigration is fatuous in the extreme.
Una pinguitillita.
The correct word is "Marxicans" not mexicans.
Didn't say they could or would have done better. My comment IS, that THE PRESIDENT should have done something, and refuses to do it. Rush said it perfectly a couple of days ago, Bush is not a conservative. He has conservative leanings in some areas, but is no conservative. Thus, Bush is open to the liberal ways of doing things when it comes to some of these types of issues, and in this case, he is. He has liberalized the illegal situation by refusing to do anything about it, and wanting to make all illegals, legal.
Mexifornia?
No, it'll be something like, "Para ingles, elpresso uno."
The ONLY consolation (and it's faint consolation at that), is that their victory will be short lived. It won't be long before espanol is back to #2, with arabic taking the #1 position.
Welcome to the Brave New World Order.

President Bush can propose legislation but it takes Congress to make it happen. The problem is the 17th amendment which made our senators mere three term congressmen. Imagine if the states still appointed senators. The illegal immigration problem would have been solved decades ago. Our congress critters are far more concerned with reelection than the fate of their country.
