Didn't say they could or would have done better. My comment IS, that THE PRESIDENT should have done something, and refuses to do it. Rush said it perfectly a couple of days ago, Bush is not a conservative. He has conservative leanings in some areas, but is no conservative. Thus, Bush is open to the liberal ways of doing things when it comes to some of these types of issues, and in this case, he is. He has liberalized the illegal situation by refusing to do anything about it, and wanting to make all illegals, legal.

I agree.
But I keep reminding myself of how much worse it would have been had enough people like us, who are pissed about this, stayed out of the last election in protest and Kerry had been elected. The same danger exists in 2006 and, then, in 2008. If enough of us stay home out of anger over this issue, we'll be putting a party in office that will sell us down the river for their own personal power.
