WASHINGTON, Aug. 21 President Bush seized today on Democratic calls for withdrawal from Iraq to make an election-year case that his political rivals did not properly understand the threats to the nation and would create a more dangerous world.
It was the most direct attack Mr. Bush has made yet against the Democrats from a White House lectern this election year, and it effectively marked the beginning of a more outright political season for the president and his aides as they work to help Republicans maintain control of Congress this fall.
The appearance marked an early, pre-Labor Day start to the official campaign season, but it comes as Mr. Bush and his party face the most daunting electoral challenge [blah, blah, blah]

No, Mr. President, they simply don't care...
The hilarious thing is that no one in their right mind believes that Hillary's body and bust comes even remotely close to what that warped sculpture did with this monstrosity.
I think he took some Baywatch model's picture, sculpted the body, and then sculpted the Hillary Medusa on top of it.
He might as well take them on because he is right, they are a threat to this country and they claim he is the biggest threat in the world to peace .I just dont understand what took him so long.
But I know tommorrow he will once again disappear and never mention again that Democrats are the biggest problem we face in defending the country from destruction.
If there has been one consistent theme from Mr.Bush as President is he is always too late in defending himself and to mild in his short spurts such as yesterday
should probably have a few more "I hate Bush" statements sprinkled in there.
If Bush understood the threat, he would have secured the borders and there would not be 8 soldiers in the brig at Pendleton.
We should send a few over there and have them report back to us.
Exactly and the RNC and every GOP ad campaign should emphasize these, his , points on not only the war but the decades-long trial against Islamofascism. Pin point the rats in the Dem Congress which and who have used vile lies and propaganda to blame America rather than the Islamo enemies. This has to be a national campaign ala '94 or the GOP will lose Congress. If the public cannot see the differences between the parties, Dems win by default.
You are right on.
note the bias in the headline, the liberal rag is trying to "argue" that bush is wrong
but I would say that bush did not "argue" that democrats don't understand the threat, he pointed it out their actions (trying to end the patriot act, end wiring taping of terror suspects etc) which prove that they don't understand the threat
the left thinks that bush, carbon dioxide and a ban on gay marriage are the biggest threats we face...
