The President has said from day one that the WOT was going to be a long haul.

The problem is that at least 50% of the people have short memories.

He did say that, back when he was focussed on winning. Lately he has lost that focus and blathers about such desert mirages as "stability" and "cease fires" in the Middle East, "Family values" across the border, and other such drivel.

He needs to cut through the garbage and remind the people once again, that this fight will last for a generation, whether we want it to or not, the alternative being the demise of everything we hold (or used to hold) dear.

The Poms who have been to Australia considers Australia as a mini-league United States, only that it plays British sports. One puts it this way: "Australia is like America without the Americans"

It all depends on what it's considered that we're really fighting. If it's terrorism as a political technique then we'll never win it at all. That's as old as warfare (somewhat older than language, the use of fire, and Helen Thomas).

But it isn't. It's a war against a highly refined means of warfare among states who use the framework of international relations to ensure that it doesn't escalate to direct confrontation. This isn't random armed bands of bearded anarchists, it's trained and professional proxy armies.

Two things need to happen to resolve this conflict: (1) the international framework must be modified or discarded altogether. That means the UN, the NGO's, the massive diplomatic bureaucracy that has grown into a would-be ruling class. To the extent that Bush has defied them he is vilified in the media that are their protectors. And (2) the source states must be attacked and their governments overthrown. Afghanistan was. Iran must be. And those actors in other states within the hierarchy of Islam who divert their host states' immense oil wealth to revolutionary purposes must be neutralized or eliminated wherever they are.

If that is done within two years then the war will have been won within two years. If it takes 50, then 50. If it never happens the proxy armies will grow in power and influence until they are no longer proxies at all. And that will mean we've lost the war.

...well said. But we (Americans, Australians and New Zealanders) know that Australia is distinctly Australia (as is New Zealand)--a proud but not presumptuous nation. People there happened to be more like us Americans, in some ways, all on their own.

Literally excited about the idea of a suitcase nuke taking out one of our cities. I came close to calling the FBI on a few of them.

Please do not hesitate.

When it comes time to "connect the dots," I would like the FBI database to include the name of anyone who feels excited about a suitcase nuke attack.

War on terror 'could last 50 years'

Hi, Aussie Dasher! I was just thinking that if we've got another 50 years of the WOT, we really should clue in those who are expecting the end of the world as we know it on August 22nd. LOL Personally, I'm just hoping to get my hair cut that day without my hairdresser going postal on me for not coming in sooner. ;)

No doubt.

The World of Islam had setbacks with the end of WWI and being held
in check by Communism (until Afghanistan).

Now they've got deep pockets via oil sales and have decided to use
The Great Satan's technology.

Yep, at least of couple of generations to weed out the Thugees of Islam.

Politically correct is our enemy!

It's not correct to look the other way when the majority of the killers comitting acts of terrorism against the United States of Ammerica are young , male Muslim men.

It's not correct to call the criminals invading our country in order to destroy it undocumented workers.

I prefer the American way! However, the British authorities got something right recently by preventing the murder of thousands of innocents that proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that profiling outweighs any minuses perceived by the insane bleeding hearts who care less about bleeding bodies.

The violation of our borders in a time of war is by invaders who must be treated as such. A government who turns a blind eye to such lawlessness isn't fit to govern!

Through history invaders were repelled, killed or captured.

Why does our worthless government change the rules of engagement now? To do otherwise is politically incorrect and is treason.

Politically correct means a nation and its citizens living by the rule of law.

If only Israel would fall on its sword islamic terrorism would go away. If the USA would only follow suit the islamic killers would simply calm down and fade away.

Jerusalem has become a political pawn for modern fundamentalists. Founded by King David around the temple of King Solomon (both Jews) it has been the capitol for over 3,300 years. Mohammed never even stopped to wash his feet there. Muslims have absolutely no claim over land that has been occurpied by Jews forever! Move along Muslims, you don't belong here!

The haters will never, never be appeased unless they succeed in killing most of us and subjegating into slavery the rest of us, Christians and Jews.

The media, and many of our politicians, blames the victims and are incapable of recognizing the fact that Israel has the right to exist and defend itself. The haters will never be appeased.

We should never catch and release terrorist Muslim killers and we should demand that profiling be used in identifying potential dangerous passengers and stop harrassing old timers!

Until Islam is taken apart and properly humiliated it will continue..
The Islamese are brain washed from their youth..

You're absolutely right, Hosepipe. Islam must be completely disassembled which is altogether worthy treatment for a religion of garbage!

"If our judges keep making sure that terrorist rights trump the rights of civilization, a "hanging judge" may get a new meaning this century."

I'd love to see a few "Hanging Judges"
