What has angered me on this thread isn't the insistence that beautiful women are just as sensitive as anyone else, which seems to be the general thrust of Hitman's comments about them. It isn't even the claim that I must convey a negativity toward them even if I'm not aware of it, which Hitman has implied but not bothered to state in such a civil (and clarifying) way. What has angered me is the utter lack of an attempt to listen to my comments -- they're just shot down without any apparent attempt to understand, let alone sympathize. A few people have been scoring points off me. When I defend myself, they pile on.

You still don't get it. I have explicitly said that I read and understood your comments. I just think your excuses are just not good enough, and won't lead you to a better place. I haven't been smug - I have just been telling you what you should already know: what you have been doing isn't getting good results and you should consider change.

To wrap things up, you proclaim your victimhood. That may make you feel better, and may make it easier for you, but it still doesn't help.

Again, I am not surprised that appealing women reject you. Just give them a chance, have a positive attitude, and have something to offer.

I have to reiterate, after reading and rereading your comments, I am not surprised at all that attractive women reject you. It makes perfect sense. so if you want better results, change. If you would rather be hostile, negative, and a victim, enjoy it, son. All alone.

Good to know that there are quite a few gentlemen around.

And it's a joy to know there are still ladies in this land!

BTW, nice Sinatra selection for late-night musing. Hope you are having a pleasant Sunday.

actual one minor correction.

We read magazines for information to do things to the world around us, not how to prance around like a bunch of dandies.

The problem, of course, is that you can't tell what the women you don't know think about these things.

If it is the right thing to do, which it is, why should it matter what others think? Just do the right thing.

Doing the "right thing" for other people when they don't agree that it's the right thing for them is considered impolite, at the least. That's the entire point.

Until they figure it out and let the rest of the world know, I'll limit my trivial chivalry to holding doors open that I enter first - just as I'd do for any man or child.

Sad.

Do you really think so? Personally, I think there are more important things to worry about.

This thread is cracking me up this morning! Why is there always one...and why is it always a different one each time? ;)

You are not responsible for others bad reactions to your good manners; you are only responsible for how you behave. It is always the right thing to show good manners.

Personally, I think there are more important things to worry about.

I didn't say I was worried, I just said I found it sad that someone is willing to justify not behaving with good manners because it may not be appreciated by everyone.

It is always the right thing to show good manners.

This is incorrect, or at least incomplete. It is not the right thing to practice "good manners" on another when they don't agree that it is good manners - this is, in fact, the definition of bad manners. Again, this is the entire point of the feminists-and-good-manners thread - that there is no consensus among women on what they find acceptable manners from men.

I just said I found it sad that someone is willing to justify not behaving with good manners because it may not be appreciated by everyone.

Again, without attempting to offend you, I don't think you get the point.

I dunno, Mr. J. It's been a while since I decided to chime in on this topic, but it's often the same song.
