MODERN MANNERS (Offering a Woman a Seat Is 'Creepy,' According to GQ)

'WOMEN ARE equals now. They can fend for themselves. To offer a perfectly healthy woman a seat simply because she is a woman, however well-intentioned, is creepy. At best, she'll think you're from another country; at worst she'll feel old, or overweight enough to be perceived as pregnant."
And that is a lesson in modern manners, according to the new issue of GQ (with Clive Owen on the cover). Glenn O'Brien and other GQ scribes weigh in on e-mails, cellphones, gym etiquette, dressing for travel, how to handle chatty seatmates, sleeping with your friend's ex, online dating, wedding gifts and how to treat gay people: "Gay people don't want to freshen up the world, they just want to be a part of it." (So don't ask for makeovers and fashion tips.)
Oh, but you certainly should open doors for women: "Why? To be nice, you mannerless ape!"

Take responsibility if the responsibility is theirs. A man's life and his results ARE his responsibility.

I think she can't take it seriously because it is patently absurd for a rational thinking man to have that point of view, and wonder why attractive women don't find him appealing.
It makes no sense.

It makes no sense, does it? And they blame women for their negativity, go figure.
To: Victoria Delsoul
I understood your point perfectly, Victoria. You are right. And nobody can tell anybody to butt out of a public forum. That's such a misdirected hostility. A shame.

That's why I laugh. I someone can't understand that, well...

And they blame women for their negativity, go figure.Once a person starts blaming others, and not taking responsibility for their life and the results in their life, it never stops. In extreme cases, it turns somebody into a liberal.
That's another unappealing trait, I think. Men who blame others and don't take responsibility for their lives tend to not be appealing to women worth knowing.

Hmmm....no, I like pretty girls, and I like to do sex things with them. Not gay here, sorry (not that there's anything wrong with that). :-)

Can we rap a bit, man??
First, I want to say something about Victoria. She is NOT shallow. DO NOT imply that she is. She IS beautiful. (Beautiful as in "model quality".) She is also VERY intelligent, talented and kind-hearted. I only wish I lived closer to her--maybe we could have lunch together or such. But that is not likely to happen.
But MANY beautiful women are like her. NOT ALL attractive women are of the hollywood mindset-- shallow as a sea shell--many are intelligent and kind-hearted. BTW-- the NOT so-attractive women can hurt a man JUST as badly as the pretty ones.
So, you have had some bad luck--so have I. But I do NOT say "beautiful women are shallow and less human". that is a BAD stereotype. Femilezi women can be beautiful, or ugly enough to "Stop a clock". Looks are NOT what is most important, anyway. Inner beauty is what REALLY counts.
This summer has been good for me, but NOT because I have found someone--I have not. I HAVE however been blessed financially, quite extensively, JUST when I, and my family, needed it most. Now, I find myself in a better financial position than ever before. I give God the credit for that. Several things happened that I could have NEVER predicted and they were not just "by chance", either. As a result, I have a much more positive outlook on things than I have before.
I am still single, and will probably always be. But I don't blame all women for it. I have probably been hurt more than you have. But I will NOT allow it to cause me to label all attractive women as "Shallow, and less human".

Not all, certainly not. Many, especially in Southern California.
It is refreshing to see a comment from someone who has been there, namely you. Much easier than all the smugness from Hitman and the rest.
I think people who have had happy sex lives with beautiful women, and/or successfully dated beautiful women who wanted to keep seeing them, cannot really understand how people like you and me feel about this.
What has angered me on this thread isn't the insistence that beautiful women are just as sensitive as anyone else, which seems to be the general thrust of Hitman's comments about them. It isn't even the claim that I must convey a negativity toward them even if I'm not aware of it, which Hitman has implied but not bothered to state in such a civil (and clarifying) way. What has angered me is the utter lack of an attempt to listen to my comments -- they're just shot down without any apparent attempt to understand, let alone sympathize. A few people have been scoring points off me. When I defend myself, they pile on.
