Israeli air attack in Békaa, the east of Lebanon

BEIRUT - Israeli aviation drew with four recoveries Friday evening on objectives not identified in an uninhabited area in the North-East from Baalbeck, in the Lebanese valley of Békaa, announced the Lebanese police force.

Helicopters and drones flew over on several occasions and at low altitude the area of Yammouné, to 22 km with flight of bird of Baalbeck, and drew with four recoveries. According to the police force, shots were then drawn in direction from the apparatuses.

The area of Yammouné is very little populated and shelters a natural reserve.

This attack is the first known rupture of the truce by the Israeli aviation, which however continues its overflights of Lebanon since the stop of the engagements with Hezbollah Monday morning.

Israeli Overflights Reported in Lebanon

BEIRUT, Lebanon — Israeli aerial drones and warplanes crisscrossed the skies over Lebanon's eastern Bekaa Valley Friday night near the Hezbollah stronghold of Baalbek, security officials said.

The officials, speaking by telephone from the area, said that ground forces had used anti-aircraft weapons but the Israeli drones and jet fighters had not opened fire, although local media reported that there had been airstrikes. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to talk to the press.

I'll tell you what happened...

Getting resupplied from Iran through Syria has been tougher than the hezbo's had hoped.

They decided to dig into the 'secret stash' and were busted with their hands in the cookie jar.

Israel (and the US) has that area under TIGHT surveillance 24/7/365 since suspicion of WMD moving there has been so strong following the fall of Iraq.

Last night I was talking to a friend in Beirut, and he told me that he could hear Israeli planes overhead, and ne said Israeli planes were spying. I do not know the facts, if he could read the ID, or not, He is Christian Lebanese, and he is so helpless, about the Hezbollah situation, but he is certainly being shook up.

"bird of Baalbeck"

It is wacky sometimes, isn't it? "Bird of Baalbeck" immediately made me think of the "genius of Vilnius," for some odd reason, lol. We used to make a game out of repeatedly translating passages of Poe on Babelfish, back and forth from one language to English and back into another, on and on, just to see how stupid we could make it sound, back when free online translation was a novelty.

Israeli jets circle over Bekaa Valley

CHTAURA, Lebanon, Aug 18 (Reuters) - Israeli warplanes flew over Lebanon's Bekaa valley and the north of the country on Friday but did not launch an attack, a security source and a Reuters reporter in the area said.

The reporter said military jets, helicopters and drones had circled over the area and had come under anti-aircraft fire but had not been hit and had not opened fire themselves.

The Irsaeli army would not comment on the media reports.

Israeli war planes frequently fly over Lebanese airspace and during the 34-day war with Hizbollah guerrillas attacked targets across the country. The Bekaa was heavily hit during the war, which ended with a U.N. sponsored truce on Monday, although there have been isolated incidents of violence since then.
