Tehran, 18 August (AKI) - Iranian state television has announced that Iran will begin new missile tests on Saturday in five different border regions including along the frontier with Afghanistan. The tests - which will last five days - appear to be a show of strength staged to impress ethnic minorities living in Iran's Kurdistan, Baluchistan and Khorasan provinces"These manoeuvres serve to re-elavorate the defence doctrine of our nation," said General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, of the Pasdaran revolutionary guards who will be conducting the tests.
Now based on what Iran stated the other day concerning military exercises .... here's a map for that ...
I think the ballon is going up and Iran realized that it cannot achieve strategic or tactical suprise and they are just getting ready in public.
And there's another story on FR about the Iranian government dismantling satellite TVs, so to cut their population off from outside media.

I think I need to get more sleep.
Then there's this on the Kurdish border of Iraq.

Turn into lava again. As in make like a glass covered parkinglot........
Yep.
Time to test our latest and best weapons. What a great opportunity to do it on this wacko.
Nothing is inevitable and Iran might just be trying to "show off"...much like Korea and their missile tests.
But it has the feel of when Katrina was moving towards New Orleans while Blanco and Nagin sat on their hands and refused to order evacuation plans.
And those that had displeased The Daemon, by casting their eyes on him, were instantly struck blind, never to see again.
And those farther yet from The Daemon, were burned horribly, although they did live, some for a day, some lingering on in awful pain for weeks.
Pretty good description of a Nuclear air blast.
thanks.
In 2001, when Jefford's defection made Daschle Senate majority leader, Daschle attempted to scuttle our missile defense program.
Transcript from Daschle's press conference, in 2001, about the National Missile Defense Program
Whether or not we want to violate the ABM treaty especially with a concept [NMD program] that we may not knowNote: It would have been apparent to anyone who viewed the press conference, that Daschle was attempting to make those who support NMD look like idiots.
...or... that we do know now does not work
is something that also mystifies me.I mean
Every aspect of the debate and the consideration that is given this whole program is... is troubling to me.
I... I mean... I...there's a disconnect there.
I mean...It just seems common sense....
I mean...there's no brain..
This isn't rocket science here...
Yes it IS rocket science....
that's the problem.. Hadn't thought about that..
As I just think out loud .... as I meander through here.
(laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh)
That's the problem.
Appropriately, he ended up looking like the idiot back then, and he looks even more like an idiot today.
The Democrats' policy of obstruction is endangering us all.
We haven't heard much out of DC about Carrier group moves... or other transfers of forces, even from the NYTimes...
They coincide with the August 22 Great Mahdi Deadline.
He means to deliver chemical / biological -- or even nuclear -- weapons on Israel.
Are you saying that you think the moves have happened (and we just don't know about it) or that they haven't happened and they should?
Don't violate loose lips if you know something - I just don't understand your post...
The Subtle Play.
They are doing everything they can to pursuade the world that they are going to launch a nuke. The religious dogma. The military maneuvers. The anouncement of missle tests. References to the 12th Inman. References to the 22nd of August.
They are inviting a preemptive strike at the missle launch point and or other strategic areas of Iran. My guess is they will have a missle launch pad with a missle on it capable of hitting Israel and capable of carrying a nuclear bomb. They will make sure we know about it.
In any event, when Israel bombs it. Or when we bomb it. We will have triggered Iran's use of a nuclear bomb located not on a missle site in Iran, but instead, a nuclear bomb either brought into Israel already or delivered short range into israel vis a vis Syria, Lebannon, Palestine or else where.
That is the play. They are too smart to use what to them is a precious resource (a nuke - assuming they have one)to stick it on a launching pad for easy arial destruction or alternatively on a missle which, as we saw with North Korea, may or may not make it out of Iran itself.
No way. Why launch it when they have had every opportunity to transport it by land or sea to the territories surrounding israel. My guestimate is that you will find your nuke in Syria now, but in a few days it will be found in Lebannon and a few days after that it will be found in Israel but most likely blowing up while residing therein.
This is the play. They invite pre-emptive stike on their county. Then, having just cause to strike back, they let loose with the big one on Israel from an ajoining Territory. Maybe, they don't have a nuke perhaps chemical, biological, etc.. Perhaps a combination.
In any event, this play within a play is excellent and certainly would be preferable to just putting a nuke on some unreliable missle in the hopes it doesn't get bombed while on the pad, shot out of the air while in flight, or otherwise malfuncioning and flying off in some unknown direction.
My guess is someone is already looking into this possiblity which of course is nothing more than that, as it is based upon rampant, though reasoned, speculation.
