No, it wasn't old. It was from the Christmas before the cops asked for clues. It was from Macy's, as the real bear was, too.

Although, they seemed to think the bear came dressed that way, but I don't, when I looked at the bear in the photo - everything's all askew, as if it had been dressed or re-dressed, maybe by JonBenet.

The outfit also seemed a bit small for that bear. The whole outfit was available separately, to dress any bear, but came in S-M-L, I believe, for different size bears.

I don't collect teddy bears, but do you know how many people have given me Santa bears over the years, as an adult? They're unbelievably common.

The pageant person who gave JonBenet the Santa bear came forward and told how she had recently gotten it.

Have not heard or seen that, could you provide a link please so that I can pass it on to some others. Thanks.

The note only says "we" in the first part. The writer changes to "I" very quickly, forgetting about the rest of the small foreign faction.

It's common knowledge. Google it. I don't have links at my fingertips from 5-6 years ago.

here is a link to the yearbook entry of John Karr's handwriting

I don't know, but I do.

I would think the phrase, "good southern common sense," would be more telling.

I can't find any commentary by Mark Fuhrman on this case. I think he should investigate though because he's good. Tom Bennet is the investigator that I referred to I believe. He was hired by Mary Keenan, the DA, to start from the beginning and see where it lead him.

Come on, really? You use And + Hence together, rather than simply "hence"? Think about that for a minute.

Whoops, the quote in 266 should be, "Does he use the phrase 'and, hence?'"

He's quite skeptical about Karr and has refuted some of the more glaring statements already, as most of us have. He was on one of the cable shows, which I don't watch, so I can't give you a link.

I'm sure he'll keep up with all this and chime in when asked. I always pay attention to his views, but he hasn't always kept on top of every single detail of this case. He doesn't want to work on it.

Would've been more telling if he or any other ransom note writer had capitalized Southern, as I'm always tempted to do.

Come on, really? You use And + Hence together,

I don't know what I can say.

Yes, I have used the phrase, "and hence." I don't write that phase every day, but it's part of my lexicon.

FWIW, many years ago, I wrote an 850 page+ Ph.D. thesis (engineering) which was read, prior to defense, by a UCAL Berkeley Professor of English who commented that she really disliked my writing style.

It's just statistics. ;)

I agree with you AND it sounds like "I know you and I know a lot about you ($118,000)" but you don't know me".

Also the references in his resume to babysitting for the "elite" and the listing of "foreign" countries and "foreign" people in the letter.

I never use the words "and hense" or "hense" in a sentance. Interesting though.

No, Lou Smit worked at the DA's office at the beginning of the case. He quit out of frustration that the police were only focusing on the Ramsey's and he believed them to be ignoring evidence that pointed else where. Later, he assisted the Ramseys in their own efforts to find the killer.

I think Tom Bennet is the one I'm remembering. I remember being very impressed at how easy it was for a man of his size to fit through that window. As for the cobwebs, I remember a reasonable explanation, but can't remember what it was. I guess it wasn't that impressive as far as evidence goes. I definitely remember the grass under the grate.

Tom Bennett was hired by Mary Keenan, the DA. He'd had no previous involvement in the case and was not acquainted with the Ramsey's.

It could be like you say too. The point is that the evidence pointing to an intruder may be just as strong, if not more so then evidence pointing to the parents.

An interesting note, Tom Bennet went into the investigation thinking they were probably guilty. Upon reviewing the evidence his mind was changed. His investigation took about two years if I remember correctly.

"...somehow I think this is connected to an associate....who perhaps hired Karr as a Tutor/Babysitter, all expenses paid for a holiday trip to Colorado."

That's what I've been expecting to hear about soon -- if Karr is the perp he may well have been brought to Boulder by friends of the Ramseys for tutoring, etc. Not necessarily a tutoring connection, though -- he also had some background in home restoration (that was his business before 1996 according to one of his online resumes) so he may well have done work for a neighbor of the Ramseys in Boulder or back in Georgia. He also lists PC maintenance and computer work on a resume so he may have been linked to someone in Ramsey's company or neighborhood in either Georgia or CO for some kind of computer work. I don't know how good he might have been at those businesses but wealthy people often fly people in, especially someone they know, to do such work or consult, etc.

Seeing as how I'm already posting on this thread, I'll add some things I saw on TV this afternoon.

Karr had taught at Bangkok Christian College in May and June 2006, before this other new school where he started Tuesday.

It is a boys' school and he taught an elementary grade, lol. One TV report on the scene said he taught 5th grade. Then, on another network, different show, also on the scene at the school, they said he taught 1st grade English. Take your pick, lol.

A parent of a student was on one show and said Karr was very mean and made her kid wet his pants, he was so scared of him.

One of them interviewed a co-worker there, another teacher who is named Bryce Smedley, who said Karr was too negative to be teaching there and he thought the guy was mentally unstable, although he wasn't saying that in a psychoanalytical way, he emphasized, lol. He said he doesn't have the credentials for that.

Umm. Oh, also they went to the Internet Cafe behind The Blooms (the dive hotel where Karr was staying when arrested, where also the US LEOs were staying while tailing him) - the girl there said Karr was in frequently and always looked all around over his shoulder while renting the puters. ($1/hr)

Also, he had a PO Box in Bangkok which he used for correspondence with Tracey and he told MT that he had a 21-speed bicycle. LEOs on stakeout at the PO Box ID'ed him by the bike he was riding when he came to get his mail.

Oh, another report was from the Intl school in Honduras where he had worked - this one was on Telemundo and I didn't see it, just heard a 3rd hand report on it - parents there also said he was too mean, which is why he was let go.

Lou Smit was the one who did the partial demo over and over again on TV. I don't think you saw Tom Bennett do it.
