Lots more people flying charter rather than commercial this last week. Bookings and charter flights up 33% domestically. I do not know about international, yet would suspect GB would have more charters with so many commercials being cancelled.

Package tours no doubt. Hurghada is a favorite for scuba/snorkelling etc.

I think we can console ourselves by knowing we were in on another notable FR moment: the coining of the term "Palne", which will almost certainly appear in other threads in the future. :-)

True, but perhaps not as much security by virtue of it being a private plane.
Also spreads the net wider as to the vulnerability our lives take on. It is my understanding that many corporate executive now fly private charters rather than commercial to avoid the airport security hassles and the sense of insured security on a smaller jet.

True, hadn't thought about that aspect. We have a few charter airlines that fly from our Florida airport to destinations in Canada. I think groups use them, but there are extra seats that anybody can book...and they're usually cheaper than regular airlines.

One of the first theads addressing this story had "plane" misspelled in the title. The Mods pulled it.
