Morning, folks. The following thread is presented as a place for my fellow FReepers to wipe their feet. : )
No longer the darlings of Dixie, the trio's new direction is already paying dividends
This time, they brought a sense of humor.
The Dixie Chicks entered the United Center on Tuesday night to the orchestral pomp of "Hail to the Chief," a not-so-veiled shot at the president whose name was not spoken all night, but whose presence has loomed large over the country-pop trio's career the last three years.
"The Incident," as the Chicks once described it, occurred in 2003 when Texas-born singer Natalie Maines addressed a London concert audience in the days before America invaded Iraq: "We're ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas," she said. Within days, the trio saw their record sales plunge as country radio stations banned their songs and staged CD-smashings.

So when the author suggests that the Chicks are seeing benefit from their idiot remarks, I can hardly see it unless they're looking for some elbow room at their concerts.
Thank God and Greyhound they're gone!
I'd say they spelled it wrong
Chuck the Fixie Dicks!
Goodbye Earl.
These gals give new meaning to the word C - - try Music
Sure - there's lots of places they could sit.
Yeah, when the 'incident' happened the Chicks were on a tour for a top-selling album. They have not seen those type of sales since. A real dividend.
Time to let them fade into the obscurity they so richly deserve.
Only in America can someone make a living off of Bush hatred.
If the Twits are seeing such a huge benefit from their "humor", why did they end up cancelling 14 cities on their tour??
Manipulating facts is nasty business, but nothing unusual for the Chicago Trib.
The irony is this puff article designed exclusively to make people think they are fdoing better than they are will actually hurt them long term. So they have left country all together. New genre completely. New audience--well supported.
Pretty soon the only station playing them will be Air Armeria (wherever they are still on the air).
When you are in a hole---stop digging.
The chicks still havent figured that out. Either that or they feel they have made enough money to last them a lifetime and dopnt need any more.
I was going to sy the music played was "Hail to the Sheit"
The 'incident' began in 2003 and it has continued up to the present. The chits seem obsessed with our President.
Soon to be opening in Nepal for "Great White".
The "Chicks" could change their name from "Dixie Chicks" to "Chicago Hos."
Actually, they're not doing so well in America. They're mainly touring in Canada.
