Statement of John Ramsey on Today's Arrest in Connection With the Murder of His Daughter, JonBenet Ramsey Wednesday August 16, 5:20 pm ET

ATLANTA, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is statement of John Ramsey on today's arrest in connection with the murder of his daughter, JonBenet Ramsey:

"I want to have only very limited comment on today's arrest because I feel it is extremely important to not only let the justice system operate to its conclusion in an orderly manner, but also to avoid feeding the type of media speculation that my wife and I were subjected to for so many years," said John Ramsey. "I do want to say, however, that the investigation of the individual arrested today in connection with JonBenet's death was discussed with Patsy and me by the Boulder District Attorney's office prior to Patsy's death in June. So Patsy was aware that authorities were close to making an arrest in the case and had she lived to see this day, would no doubt have been as pleased as I am with today's development almost 10 years after our daughter's murder. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude for the efforts of Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy and the members of her investigative team."

ADVERTISEMENT click here Patsy Ramsey lost a 13-year battle with ovarian cancer and passed away on June 24.

"The Ramseys and I have been totally amazed and impressed with the professionalism of law enforcement under the direction of Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy. This was obviously an incredibly complex task but one that has been carried out in almost textbook fashion with the investigation of this individual going on for several months, without any leaks in the case," said L. Lin Wood, attorney for the Ramsey family and a partner at Powell Goldstein in Atlanta. "I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the many people who have stood by the Ramseys, believing in them and their innocence throughout these long and difficult years."

John Ramsey will not be providing any interviews at this time. Requests for future interviews should be directed to Lin Wood, attorney for the Ramsey Family.

I continue to believe Patsy Ramsey was involved.

Do you also believe that Elizabeth Smart ran away and had an affair with that street bum and his wife Wanda Barzee?

People have a right to their opinion. There are all kinds of conspiracy theories on every topic under the sun.

Keep in mind that John Ramsey pointed the finger of guilt at a former business partner of his. To what end would he do such a dastardly thing. He thinks he was hounded so he puts the suspicion on someone else.

That's fine; people shouldn't jump to any conclusions about this-- hopefully you weren't one who visciously asserted that they "MUST" be the guilty ones because ______ (fill in the blank with: pageants, wealth, using a lawyer, etc...).

But, from the reports it appears that it's not just the confession that got him arrested-- they've been firming up their case for the past 2 months. So I'm cautiously optimistic that they caught the right animal.

I see this got pulled from breaking and front page news.

The HUNDREDS of freepers who said the parents did it - we shall wait for apologies left and right.

Pretty amazing.

Who is the cop that wrote the book saying they were guilty? They must feel pretty stupid.

Will wait for Nancy Grace to apologize.

Will wait for all those on here for same.

Pretty sad.

"I think the Ramseys case shows that just because you "lawyer up" doesn't indicate a guilty mind. You give the cops all you can in one or 2 interviews, then shut up."

Truer words... After the first interview, if they're homing in on you, they're just looking for inconsistencies in your story. A lawyer can save your (innocent) butt and maybe they'll look for the perp, rather than the person who talks too much.

It is truly so extraordinarily sad. I feel very bad for John Ramsey. He was dealt the death of his oldest daughter at 21 in a car accident, then the viscious murder of Jonbenet, cancer treatment & eventual death of his wife. Oh, and the torture of being accused of having something to do with the death of his daughter. It certainly would have been more than I could have borne-- I'm glad they had faith to help them through it.

No, I think Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped. Again, respected handwriting experts have said Patsy Ramsey wrote the ransom note, which is not explained away by the arrest of this man in Thailand.

I don't recall any highly regarded handwriting experts ruling Patsy Ramsey out.

They were ill served by the Boulder Police Department and the DA. The crime scene was sooooooo compromised.

Many believe she did write the letter because the ransom requested was the exact amount of John's Christmas bonus ($18,000, I believe).

News is saying they have a DNA Match with the suspect in Thailand to the killers. So I guess that about sums that up.

Wild.

John Ramsey served in the Phillipines when he was a naval officer. He also visited Bangkok.

Some people can not and will never admit that they were wrong. They've spent 10 years saying she was guilty - now when someone is arrested for the murder and it's not a Ramsey, they still can't admit it.

That dumb--no, moronic, female cop who said on one of those network magazine programs that (to paraphrase): ''...[as] soon as I walked into the Ramsey house I could see the killer's eyes, it was Patsy Ramsey...." should be re-interviewed and embarrassed to tears. The Boulder PD never looked for anyone else, it's sort of like O.J. is searching daily for the ''real'' killer.

Good point. I am amazed at the "she did it" theory still touted.

JonBenet Ramsey Ransom Note

http://www.statementanalysis.com/ramseynote/

There are just too many points covered in this analysis to ignor suspicions of Patsey Ramsey's involvement.

I realize that but it was never proven she wrote the letter, and if the police really thought Patsey killed her own daughter she would have been arressted a long time ago.
