Yes, the red tent should be drawn larger...
This Thread Brought To
You By The Letter "W":
I gues you laughed at the terrified NViet kids
Sorry...the look on the little ones faces...this is not what we want to show as FR to the world!!
I guess that's the way you want FR to be seen.
I am ashamed.
Thanx Pookie!
Again, your protest is noted and respected. In itself, the cartoon could be deemed offensive, but it is presented in sequence as part of a theme. Political parody is sensitive by nature, we are sorry you are offended.
Whether I feel the same or not is irrelevant. I am willing to move on knowing that Pookie18 has achieved the purpose of this excellent daily thread by presenting political parody/imiges that are out on the web for this purpose.
Perhaps you would like to help Pookie18 in the future as act as an editor? I'm sure Pookie18 would appreciate someone else who has the devotion and conviction that lasts greater than a couple of posts to pitch in and help.
So if you are serious, lend a hand.
Why wouldn't we want to remind the world that the result of communism is terrified, screaming, naked children running for their lives - with their parents most likely dead? All these toons are reminders of why our young men and women are getting shot at all over the world. Seems alot of folks want to present the outcomes of these ideologies as very asceptic and non-threatening.
My first experience as a young child (10yrs old) of seeing the results of communism first hand certainly put things in perspective for me for the rest of my life. Wasn't funny then and isn't funny now but its very appropriate and necessary to be reminded and remind others why we have an armed force ready to defend our ideals in this nation.
That's the whole point of these toons - not necessarily funny (ie the pic of the woman jumping from the world trade center) - but very useful for illustrating the differences b/t democracy and islam-fanaticism (and communism). Some of these toons make the point with humor, some with sarcasm, some with irony, some with just the stark reality.
The fact of the matter is this: if we (the US/Israel/western nations) do not stop this current ideology (as we did with communism), your kids and my kids will be running screaming through the streets like that except that the gunmen will be wearing towels, not helmets. No amount of denial will change that fact.
Thanks! Pookie does a terrific job.
This is one instance where the judgement was terribly, terribly off. That pic of the burned VietNamese kids is NOT something to be parodied!!
I would also hate to have some of our adversaries pick up on that as typical of FR.
I do not offer myself as editor, however, I would hope that reasoned criticism would be honored.
When Pookie posts, Pookie takes the FR name out into the world!
Thanks...I don't agree on the "cartoon," but thanks!
What do you mean by that? I feel strongly that this picture should not have been used in a "comical" fashion.
Coming back to it...the photo speaks for itself...terrified children.
Pookie thougt it was "funny" to put a comic element in it...this is one of the most "unfunny" posts I have ever seen.
Great laughs today.
FABULOUS, Pookie!!
Those were SOUTH Vietnamese kids.
Golly...you know...the very MINUTE I posted I knew I was wrong...thanks for correcting...I would have done it, but there was too much going on to gum up the works.
Thanks again for the correct!!
bttt
I just don't think Pookie understands how painful that picture is.
I can certainly appreciate you not finding the humor in it. Let me leave you with these thoughts though.
I took it as relating communism with islamo-fanaticism. Either way, the point is made that the result of losing the war to communism or islamo-fascism is the same. Our kids will be orphans and not very happy about it.
Don't take it as funny "ha ha" but at least take it as "aha - never tied the two together". Also take is as a reminder to stay vigilant against enemies both foreign and domestic. Pookie18 and his(her?) version of humor is not the enemy.
(She was still asleep)
If the Toons offend you, don't read them.
