Law enforcement sources confirm to News 4 that Tucson Police have issued an "attempt to locate" on two Middle Eastern men in their 20's who purchased nearly 50 phones from Sam's Club and Wal-Mart in Tucson.
Sources say the men made the purchases on Saturday and Sunday.
There's been a number of arrests nationwide with very similar circumstances.
News 4 is not linking this case with the national cases, but we do want to point out how similar they are.
Arrests have been made in Michigan and Ohio and there are reports of large numbers of cell phones being sold to young men fitting the same description in Wisconsin.
There was a very similar case that went down in Antigo, Wisconsin where police say another group of men bought more than 90 cell phones from 4 different stores.
News 4 spoke with a Wal-mart and Sam's Club representative and he would not confirm nor deny that these men did in fact buy those phones.
Instead, he referred us to the police and we spoke with the Pima Sheriff's Department and the Marana and Oro Valley police departments.
Tucson law enforcement authorities confirmed late Sunday night that officers are searching for these two men.
Yes... that is what cell phones tell you nowadays when a call comes through on your cell if you do not answer it. Most likely the example in the picture is one cell phone that failed to set off the bomb it was attached to. That is why the phone is still intact and someone called it to set off the bomb (bomb goes off normally on the first ring) but it failed to set off the bomb.
You won't see that on a Nokia ad.
They don't care. We have been talking about this for months and they are still doing it.
Okay, "Slow."
Series.
K-Mart, WallMart, Sears, Taget, etc. have a retail distribution netwok of 30,000 stores.
Achmed and his brothers buy 1,000 disposable cell phones for $20. They strip down the packaging, and separate the contents.
They drive their van around the country selling the phones for $25... stripped.
Do you think there is a market for these goods being sold by bearded camel humpers?
Cause August 22nd is only a week away now?
Another thing is I doubt they are after is the SIM Cards in them because someone on eBay is selling 25 lots of 2,000 TracFone Unactivated SIM Cards for the BIN price of $399.99. (something tells me these SIM cards on eBay do not have 40 minutes of air time preprogrammed on them)
So do the SIM Cards that come with the cell phones that are in these packages have the SIM Cards preprogrammed with the 40 minutes of air time on them?
They could even buy them cheaper on Ebay probably (I wonder if the feds are even looking at that angle- there are ways to catch people).
Yes. They've been doing this for a long time. Th
Really? About the only thing clerks seem to be aware of is when their next break is.
I have seizures, and frequent episodes of strange neurological things... Anyway, for a while, I kept thinking of birds falling from the sky. It was a recurring thought for past few weeks.
The guys with 1000 cell phones were not terror related so why are these new guys wanted all of a sudden?
Actually
Mackinac Bridge patrols increased
CARO, MICHIGAN -- The Coast Guard said Sunday it has increased patrols near the Mackinac Bridge after prosecutors said they believe three Palestinian-American men jailed on terrorism-related charges were targeting the 5-mile span.
The Coast Guard said that it has increased patrols across the Straits of Mackinac in response to a possible threat to the bridge linking Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas.
The men were arrested Friday. Authorities say the men had about 1,000 cell phones in their van.
...
Call me cynical, but I don't think they're using the phones for talking.
One does not make money selling a product that he has purchased at retail price. What price are they going to ask when selling these phones? More than what they paid? No one would but them off the street for retail cost. Anyone in law enforcement, and I mean the FBI, that cannot understand this needs to find a new career.
It is insane that the Feds feel that people are harmless if they aren't a card-carrying member of AL Qaida. At the very least, I hope they put these people (and the 11 Egyptians) on a list, and keep all fingerprints, DNA etc.
Those 11 Egyptians were odd- this country would have had people to help them if they were truly lost. Something fishy, if not terror, immigration fraud.
Hmmm..I don't think so!
ERRRRRRR!!! Wrong. They use the cell phones as detonators on bombs.
