Tuscola County prosecutors filed terrorism-related charges Saturday against three men who they say bought dozens of cell phones Friday in Caro in a globally coordinated plot involving the Mackinac Bridge.
They charged brothers Adham Abdelhamid Othman, 21, and Louai Abdelhamied Othman, 23, along with their cousin, Maruan Awad Muhareb, 18, with identical counts of collecting material to support terrorist acts and surveillance of a vulnerable target with intent to committ terrorism.

you're a fraud, Gary.
Anyone interested can follow our little exchange on this thread and see it for themselves.
They were up to no good, that's for sure.
Sounds like a good move to me. Remember what Jefferson said about the greater spiritual strength found among those who live in rural areas. You can have a nice garden even if it is just eight feet by twelve feet.
Tunnels always have creeped me out more than bridges but looking straight down off the Golden Gate gave me shivers. I take macho pride in this and that but I would not want to stick it out in a city just so I could say I was sticking it out.
If I remember my chemistry correctly phosgene gas production needs heat. Heat such as in an explosion would disperse the gas upward, i.e., away from people. In order to produce phosgene gas it has to be in a more or less controlled environment. ( To be taken with a grain of salt because it has been over 40 years since I studied chemistry. )
Maybe I remember wrong and it's chlorine gas that is created.
I just remember it's lethal. On the bottles of phosphoric acid I sometimes use to remove soap scum from the shower, it warns not use use chlorine bleach before or afterwards.
You are dead wrong on several points. I can prove who I am and my credentials, can you?
And I just checked some Diet Coke and it contains some phosphoric acid.
After 9/11, in California, several of the charter schools, were closed once it was realized that the funding recieved was actually going to secret training camps. Oakland, Fresno, etc., Charter schools. Nothing was said about arrests or terrorist apprehensions, but all were closed. How easy it was for them to apply for funding and get it, in the millions, from the state. Nothing surprises me anymore... and why aren't these families being scooped up by the hundreds, sent to Gitmo or deported? They have had decades to infiltrate and assimilate, waiting for their orders to Jihad. God help us. I really can't understand how Deerborn has allowed this to go on. (Muslim high school using federal funding) I guess the powers that be either have arrogant faith in preventing a catastrophy or have just kept a blind eye.
It was a single U.S. customs agent who suspected a Canadian of Algerian descent, although his papers were in order. She single handedly prevented the bombing of LAX in 1999 (although Sandy Berger later lied and claimed his NSA staff were responsible).
You and I and every American are soldiers on the front lines in this war. So long as Islamic Fascists infect this nation we must remain ever vigilant.
"Should I feel smart or wimpish to leave the NYC area asap?"
If you feel better in a more rural area, you have no need of rationalizing your decisions, whether they're based upon some sort of gut instinct, or whether they're purely rational and practical. There are compelling reasons to choose a life outside of a major metropolitan area. Many of us have chosen to do so. The thing that sticks out in my own mind is the sheer, logistical nightmare of evacuating a large city. It's simply not possible to accomplish this with any degree of rapidity. Of course, the job opportunities and cultural amenities are compelling reasons to remain in a major metropolitan area. There are tradeoffs, either way. NYC is obviously going to remain high on any list of targets for terrorism; you're ultimately the only one who can determine how high a tolerance you have for the potential risk, though.
Color me stupid, but how the hell can one take down that giant of the Bridge with some cell phones.
Even with 18 wheelers loaded to the hilt with explosives and placed on strategic suspension points and triggered by cell phones won't take down that huge bridge.
The bridge is just too big! Heavy damage, yes, but no total destruction. My opinion mind you.
Who would have thought that planes flown into the WTC would lead to a chain reaction of events that would cause both the towers and surrounding buildings to completely collapse?
Worth repeating. We're all soldiers, investigators, G-Men.....all of us.
Not even Osama thought the whole buildings would collapse. He thought that only the floors above where the planes hit would collapse.
For every American moslem arrested for terrorism, we should deport 10,000 other American moslems and confiscate everything they have. That will motivate the ones here to turn in the hotheads in their communities or we get rid of them all.
Win Win situation
They may be even better at the engineering of destruction than they were.
Most people don't realize how close the 1993 bombing of the WTC came to an even worse disaster than the 2001 attack.
Just some more explosive and the tower bombed in 1993 would have topple and taken the other tower with it, plus what ever lay in their path below.
Quite true. In the early nineteenth century there were quite a few people who were alarmed by large numbers of Catholics immigrating.
Not wimpish at all to follow your gut feelings...whatever that 'little voice' inside is speaking to you about, it is speaking to you. Listen.
You don't understand the purposes of terrorism?
