Not even Osama thought the whole buildings would collapse. He thought that only the floors above where the planes hit would collapse.

The reason the WTC buildings collapsed from a impact-inferno at those upper levels was due to the design of the buildings.

This would not have occurred with a Sears Tower type building.



A similarly constructed structure that was 32-storys tall, the Madrid Spain Windsor Building (and not even as well built) completely burned out and the superstructure was left standing. Unusable yes but still standing.
