There is also a lot of recruiting going on in our universities and prisons. That said, I still think a certain kind of profiling would work--grandmas and 6 years old little girls are highly unlikely to be suicide bombers.
Personally, I think the converts are like people who join any cult. They are adrift, "seeker" types who feel like misfits, for one reason or another, in contemporary society, and they are attracted to Islam because it takes total control of their lives, tells them everything they should do, down to the smallest detail, and brings them into a special, closed society where they feel important. In the case of Islam, the cult's devotion to violence and conquest also makes them feel powerful.
Unless somebody plants something on them. One of the would-be bombers in Britain was a woman with a six month old baby who she obviously planned to blow up along with her. Hence the new rule about not bringing disposable diapers on board without letting them be examined.
Pretty sick, but that's Muslims for you. I think if any group is automatically excluded from searching (as this woman probably expected to be, because she had a baby), that's the type of person they will use, willingly or unwillingly, to transport their explosive or other device. Remember the poor American college girl who unknowingly transported the clock-radio bomb in the Lockerbie bombing had been given the bomb by her Muslim "boyfriend" and knew nothing about it, of course.
Sadly, I think you are right. When people are willing kill their own babies for "the cause" then everyone must be suspect. I retract what I said earlier.

We're just about reached the point of admitting (publicly) that the enemy is Islamic fanatics. Everyone has known this for years, but PC is difficult to overcome in public pronouncements.
It will take quite a while longer to reach Step 2 and publicly admit that their motivation is religious, not political, not "hatred of our freedoms", etc.
Once we are willing to admit that religion is the underlying motivating factor, the achille's heel of Islam becomes obvious: Pork. Islamic fanatics believe that they are guaranteed paradise for their crimes unless they are "contaminated" by pork. It doesn't matter how silly it seems to us. The only thing that matters is what the would-be homicide bomber believes. Exploit that belief.
Admit this and the solution is both obvious nad surprisingly economical: Pigskin leather seats in all aircraft. Ham sandwiches provided on all airline flights. Bacon-sented room fresheners in public places. And of course, mnadatory pig contamination before execution of any captured terrorist. No need to torture for information either. Just contaminate and then refuse to allow ablution before confession. Again, exploit their beliefs and phobias, not what "makes sense" to the layman.

I wonder if the radicalized children of the immigrants feel that way also? They seem to be perpetual students who never grew up. Rather than blame themselves for being failures, they gravitate to radical Islam, that teaches them that they are the vanguard of the new world order (kind of like communism and Naziism). I think the welfare benefits European countries give such shiftless people contributes to the problem. You have radicalized, alienated young people who live on welfare money and spend their days being taught Jihad.
I agree ...the first step is to stop all student exchanges from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and the like. This is the easiest way for terrorists to infiltrate.
Consider the students who never made it to Montana...granted, they have most of them now, but what were we doing granting them student visas to begin with?
As far as the home grown variety, that is going to take a different approach...the wiretap on phones from suspected terrorists overseas was a great thing until the Slimes leaked it...My prayer is that the Slimes will continue on the downside and go out of business.

Well, the devil does make work for idle hands, and all that. But some of them actually seemed to have jobs (at the airport!!!) and were doing fairly well in Britain, to say nothing of those who were studying for a career, etc.
I think the welfare "entitlement" mentality probably does permeate the thinking of many Muslims, though, and that is why they are whining about being "profiled" after it has been demonstrated time and again that many among them are trying to kill us. Being on welfare means never having to take responsibility for your actions, and I think the bizarre disconnect that Muslims seem to be capable of - howling that they are being persecuted when we try to stop them from killing us - may be a result of the fact that many of them in Europe were trained in the school of entitlement that is welfare.
Considering that this latest plot was tracked initially on the basis of information we gathered through electronic and financial monitoring (before these methods were cut off) and then provided to the Britis, I think it's going to be hard for the Slimes to continue its attack. I wouldn't be surprised if some programs are ultimately restored, in fact.
I keep wondering how much tighterning up on welfare in the UK might help. I see no reason for the government to subsidize this. make them get jobs and pay the rent. Review, maybe visit recipients.
It probably wouldn't hurt (since the UK appears to be cheerfully supporting a bunch of radical welfare-collecting imams), but the problem is that the latest band wasn't even on welfare. They were just Muslims getting ready to kill anybody who wasn't part of the club.
I also think that calls for hearings (including Specter's) will start quieting down too.
