August 12, 2006 -- What if the terrorists had succeeded? What if, days from now, suicide bombers manage to bring down 10 airliners over the Atlantic, costing thousands of innocent lives? And what if the reason they succeeded is that the people charged with foiling their plans had their hands tied because of outcries from the civil-liberties crowd

No, and New Yorkers are aware that the Muslims are still targeting them and won't be happy until all of NYC is a smoking ruin.
That said, profiling solely on the basis of ethnicity is not going to work. I personally do not think we should admit any more people from Muslim countries and we should work quickly to get rid of any of those here who are not citizens (and those who are citizens should be watched carefully).
But today it emerged that three of the British would-be bombers were converts. One was 100% British, one had a non-practicing (or possibly non-Muslim) Iranian father and an English mother, and one was Jamaican. The common thread is Islam, not ethnicity, and I honestly don't know how we're going to deal with that.

we have to remember that not all muslims are islamic facists, and hopefully the whole "with us or against us" thing will sink in...:|
Yes, it's Islam. Lunatics such as the New Black Panthers are just one example of enemies within.

"How to target terrorists"
the crosshairs boys...just get them in the crosshairs
Profile. It's LONG overdue.
Israeli security officials say we should be looking for terrorists rather than box cutters, liquids or Muslims. A terrorist profile would screen for many characteristics that might include ethnicity, home, and religion. It also includes things like passengers on one-way tickets for which I have indeed been separated and questioned. The rights sophisticated weighting of factors would help us find the bad guys better and relieve personnel and travellers from mind-numbing boredom and inconvenience of screening everyone.
Millions of Americans will die before we gain the will to do what needs to be done. Those of us with children must look down the road and see that Izzies have been waging war on civilization for a thousand years and will not quit until they are pounded into oblivion. The civilized world has to do whatever is necessary to take out their leadership (gangster thugs) and choke off their funding, even if that means seizing the world's oil fields. We must not lose the lessons of history. If Iran prez doesn't mean what he says, what does he mean? Raise your hand if you are 100% convinced that he has no nuclear capability and wouldn't use it if/when he obtains it.
Profile is the only way.
The reason profiling took such flack was because in New Jersey, the State Police targeted young blacks driving fancy cars. And 85% of those targeted either had drugs in the car or was wanted by the police on other charges.
Now while I have reservations whether this form of profiling was acceptable, profiling Arab men getting on airplanes is perfectly acceptable since it seems like they are in fact the only ones trying to blow them up.
Not all of them are - yet. The problem is that the goal of conquest and violent domination is a built-in part of their cult, in its very founding documents, and at some point, their cult is going to demand that they put it into practice. Then they are going to have to decide between their cult and values of the Western (Greco-Roman Judeo-Christian based) society in which they live.
I think that one of the reasons some of our leaders don't address the issue of Islam more directly is because we are afraid of stirring up the black radicals, who will then make it look "chic" in the black community to convert to Islam. Let's hope we never see Jesse turn up wearing one of those little white skullcaps...
Truer words were never spoken. OK, the Brits foiled a crude plot to mix liquid explosives carried aboard aircraft in carry on baggage, so what plan will our Muslim jihadist enemies come up with next? Here is what it could be, and with the current security precautions in effect, they will in all likelihood get away with it.
This is not divulging anything that is not already common knowledge among criminals, law enforcement officers, and prison guards world wide, but Muslim jihadists could bring a sufficient amount of explosives aboard an aircraft to destroy it in flight by using a procedure called body cavity concealment. Believe me, enough plastic explosive can be stuffed in a condom, inserted anally, and carried aboard an aircraft to destroy a pressurized aircraft in flight. The Soviets made a detonator that looked exactly like a ballpoint pen, and Im sure theyre still readily available on the world market. Once on board, and the aircraft is in flight and pressurized, the jihadist would simply go to the toilet, remove the plastic explosive from his body, insert the detonator into the explosive and very soon he will be having a ball with his 72 virgins. The other passengers will remain alive long enough to witness the breakup of the aircraft and its final plunge to earth in many pieces.
After this happens, assuming TSA ever figures out how it happened (could have been sparks in the fuel tank, you know) they will be faced with the miserable task of performing body cavity searches on all passengers, because if they only search Muslims it would be profiling. Right away CAIR would protest body cavity searches on Muslims as it would violate a Muslims religious sensibilities, and after that you know who would be bent over the table while young Middle Eastern males chuckle as they board aircraft unchecked. Yes, it will be Christian grandmothers who again have to suffer the indignity of traveling by air in a politically correct nation.
If our elected leaders cannot figure out who our enemy is and do it soon, Western Civilization is doomed to a well-deserved extinction.
Profiling is a process of separating one or a few from the many. One could also use the terms "classification", "discrimination" or "separation". It is not the process which is objectionable but to what use the result of the process is to be employed.
We also must realize that those that are not fanatical facists are bad muslims. Good muslims want us dead, it's in their 1200 year old ops manual. We cannot trust ANY muslim. Sooner we infidels start living by that rule, the sooner we can rid the world of this danger, but it's going to be very ugly and we have to get over the PC mentality that we've been force fed for decades now.
Sheesh. We are really getting wrapped around the "double think good" axle. The phrase in italics is demonstrable of mortal affinity to PC. A better way to approach our moral "dilemma" is to extrapolate the fact that all islamofascists are terrorists and are Muslim.
Multiculturalism and political correctness, when injected into any solution to the problem of bad guys trying to eliminate the U.S., will fatally infect the result for the U.S.
Yow! What a thought! But plausible when you consider that the "church lady" supporters of charlatans like Jackson and Sharpton are a dying breed. The Rev Racketeers will follow the money--wherever it takes them.
The home grown terrorists are the children of immigrants or recent converts. The children see their parents as nominal Muslims who compromise by functioning in Western society (having jobs, associating with "infidels," etc.). The children have been radicalized to think of themselves as "pure" Muslims who turned away from their parents' hypocricy and who will destroy Western civilizations. The converts are converts for political reasons and not so much religious reasons. Radical Islam is just a cause for them to join - something more grandious than joining a gang. These converts are nililists who are attracted to radical Islam's desire to destroy everything. As proof of that, many converts only thought about Islam after the 9/11 attacks.
