Doug from Upland also provided the following quote from the movie "This is Spinal Tap" on other Chicks threads.
Marty: The last time Tap toured America, they where, uh, booked into 10,000 seat arenas, and 15,000 seat venues, and it seems that now, on the current tour they're being booked into 1,200 seat arenas, 1,500 seat arenas, and uh I was just wondering, does this mean uh...the popularity of the group is waning?
Ian: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no...no, no, not at all. I, I, I just think that the.. uh.. their appeal is becoming more selective.

" negotiating the now-postponed dates, the band balked at a guaranteed nightly fee of around $500,000 because the tour's promoter, Anschutz Corp.'s AEG Live, would give them only 90 percent of the ultimate gross of the show. Instead, they negotiated a deal for 95 percent of the door with no guarantee -- a move that backfired when it became clear that ticket sales were below expectations. AEG Live Chief Executive Randy Phillips couldn't be reached for comment."

"On the other hand, execs at Dixie Chicks tour promoter AEG are very visibly high-fiveing one another after manager Simon Renshaw and the band turned down a 90/10 split and $30 million guarantee in favor of a 95/5 arrangement, which may have cost them as much as $20 million, with advance ticket sales reportedly soft in several Red State markets. (6/9p)
So there ya have it...so far they have lost at least $20 Million from this debacle. :D
These girls are really, really dumb. I guess they will realize it when there are no more tours because they can't get a gig. LOL
Maybe they will understand sooner or later; don't mess with America. Your antics are not wanted here and either are you.
The Canada Status of Women (feminist government office known as "SOW" to most right-minded Canadians) chicks will probably buy out most of the tickets.
Perfectly analogous to Spinal Tap. Some day, it's going to come down to the same Tap scene where they're arguing about the marquee sign - with top billing going to a puppet show...
Manager talking about the sign: "I told them a hundred times, it's Dixie Chicks FIRST! THEN puppet show!"
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Country-pop trio the Dixie Chicks, still feeling a backlash for criticizing President George W. Bush, have been forced to mostly abandon the American heartland and Deep South on their latest tour.
Facing lackluster ticket sales in many U.S. cities where radio stations had banned their music to protest the band's anti-Bush remarks, the Chicks' promoters have revised their tour with new stops in Australia and Canada.
"We hope that our fans who were looking forward to a stop that is no longer on the tour will be able to join us at a nearby arena this fall, and we are sorry for any confusion or inconvenience," the Dixie Chicks said.
"Canadian cities added to replace the canceled U.S. shows."
Heh, run Chicks, run...
charlie daniels band is playing the san mateo co. fair...
Dix who?
What fans? I wasn't aware these three had any fans here in Houston.
Maybe they could call in Connie Chung to save them.
no, seriously, what I meant was
BWAHAHAHAHAHA
To paraphrase Spinal Tap, "We cancelled the Southern swing of the tour; there aren't a lot of country music fans there."
Just woke up...
Let's see...the chicks will be right across the street.......sorry, too far to walk!
They are done, and the only one they have to blame is themselves.
