Two Men Try To Buy Multiple Cell Phones In Ithaca

(TV5) -- While FBI agents pour into Caro another incident breaks out in Gratiot County. At approximately 11:35am August 11th police were called to the Dollar General Store in Ithaca after a" clerk in Ithaca became suspicious after two men came into the store, and became upset when they were turned down while trying to buy several disposal cell phones.

TV5's Mike Terry spoke with the clerk who called police. She said they were two "Middle Eastern" men and said they've been coming into the store weekly and buying disposable cell phones. She said the same thing was happening at the dollar general store in Alma.

You might think the clerk became suspicious because of what was going on in Caro but when we asked the clerk she said she wasn't even aware of what was going on.

The policy at their store is that they can only sell two cell phones, per person, per day. She saw the men put the phones in the trunk of the car and when she thought they were coming back in, she called 9-1-1.

We did talk to Ithaca police while there has been no crime committed-they do want to find these men, and run their names against government watch lists.

To drive through two states and buy nothing... this does not compute.) Unless they have orders to sweep a specific 'zone'.

Would car batteries do the trick for power? if so, they might be rigging dial-up car bombs.

Is this Ahmadinejad's August surprise? An attempt to disable our nuclear reactor sites through hundreds of terror bombings. The pipsqueak is just itching to die.

How's he gonna die from that?

He'll plead "plausible deniability," and the RATs will chime in with "there's no PROOF that he was involved", and he'll sit there smirking, continuing his rant about a "world without America."

The ringer in the cell phone is wired to the bomb's detonator so that the detonator's circuit is completed when the phone rings, causing the detonator to set off the bomb. In other words, the cell phone functions as a remote controlled bomb switch.

Odd???? Not if you're planing a major strike at multiple locations at your ....local mall? Are you really that naive or just trying to be sarcastic? You forgot the sarcasm tag if that's the case.

Its true. All the signs and chatter it seems are for something bad to go down in the US and elsewhere (US interests) on or about the same day in the next few weeks perhaps.

These Islamofascists are still centering upon airlines, it won't be long until they change direction or do a mis-direction and hit us from another angle, like hijacking loaded schoolbusses, or simultaneously detonating devices in major theme parks like Disneyland or WDW, or a large NASCAR race.
Yes I think it should be put out on the media that all Tracphones sold in the last 90 days or so will NOT be able to go into service, this is basically the only option we have unless we pull the plug on all cellphones. There is no doubt that the cellphone is an ideal weapon for terrorists, cheap, common and untraceable.

The Lithium batteries are very powerful and hold a charge for a very long time. Does anyone know if the batteries can be detected through the airport Magnetometers>

"Sorry, but this idea is wrong. We need to stop proposing solutions that involve reducing our own freedoms. Instead, we need to take the attitude that our smallest liberty or smallest convenience is worth more than the lives of every member of Al Qaeda, every member of every other jihadist organization, every supporter of these organizations, and every sympathizer with these organizations. Instead of inconveniencing ourselves, we need to kill them and keep killing them until none are left or until the remaining few surrender. That's a hard position to take, but we have freedom today because the Americans who came before us took that attitude. If we want to pass freedom to future generations, we have to take the attitude that the smallest freedom is worth more than the lives of all of those who would do things that would threaten any freedom."

Double Amen.

Tapping this in from a handheld so I'll be briefer than I'd like:

Personally I believe they intend to use them for BOTH communication and remotely detonated bombs.

They don't even need to activate the phones(making them even more anonymous) if they have someone who knows how to "clone" cell phones. (A one minute operation if you know how. ).

They don't need autodialers or anything ponderous to call a bunch of different numbers ... they can do it by callling the one number assigned to the clones.

You would quickly get caught if you used a cloned phone for day to day communication, but for a one time use thing, no worries as long as you don't have more than one cloned number operating in each cell zone.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there were thousands of small explosions all over the US and the rest of the world on Aug. 22 or 9-11 etc.

The other people who were recently caught buying cellphones at Wal-mart said that the phones were $20 at Wal-mart and $38 elsewhere. They said they were selling them. From searching Ebay it does appear there is a good market for these phones. Perhaps we should shut-down Ebay; Lord knows how many terrorists could be buying supplies through the anonymity of the web.

All these millions of cellphones are now a weapon being used against us, we really need to cut off this snakes head.

Next, we can end murder, rape, and robbery by outlawing guns, right?

Think it through, please. If they can't get cellphones, they'll use two-way radios -- FRS, GMRS, MURS, Ham, or even surplus market business/government band. And don't forget the Ship to Shore frequencies -- you can get a nice, powerful VHF handheld with LONG range, for not a lot of money. Illegal as hell to use when NOT onboard a boat. Like that'll matter? LOL!

But,let's say you DO manage to take away ALL radio devices. That won't stop 'em either. They'll use two dollar wristwatches, or old windup alarm clocks!

The problem is NOT the gun... um, I mean, the phone. The problem is the SOB using it.

Trying to prevent terrorist attacks by banning telephones would be laughable if only it weren't so serious.

Tragic, too, to see the same mentality used by the gun-banners now applied to a different piece of machinery.

But wait, you say. I don't understand -- a cellphone can kill LOTS of people. Oh, right. Sort of like an "assault weapon", right?

What a sad estate we have lowered ourselves into. The tangoes are laughing their heads off, if they're watching us squabble about the best way to prevent them from getting telephones.

Remember, these are the people, who, when they can't even get a two dollar wristwatch, get by with a fifty cent SWITCH. They are ready to strap on a bomb-belt, hit the button, and go up in smoke -- and you think you'll stop them by preventing them from buying telephones???

I swear, the moment I see Sarah Brady calling for "reasonable restrictions" on phone purchases, I'm gonna drink myself silly, even if it does give me a pounding migraine from hell after ONE drink! (And it does!)

One last time, folks -- the problem is NOT that there are TELEPHONES all over the place. The problem is that there are JIHADIS all over the country! You can take away the phones, but the jihadis will just laugh at you for your silliness.

Were I wishing to synchronize a group of bombs, I'd use an alarm watch. Cell phone coverage is iffy, to something buried in an earthen or metal structure.

Yup. Any two dollar wristwatch (they all have alarms, I believe) will do the trick. The cellphones let the jihadis play like they're sophisticated (they've watched too many movies, I think) -- and, they make them stand out like sore thumbs when they make the purchases. (A guy walking down the street buying a wristwatch in every store that sells 'em will end up with all the watches he can carry inside of an afternoon, without drawing any attention to himself, and, at a tenth the price of the cellphones.)

If not for the cellphones, they'd use watches. If not for the cellphones, we'd never know what they were up to.

And, this recent London plot shows there doesn't seem to be too much shortage of Mooselamofascists willing to do in-person dirty work. A suicide bomber can carry more kaboom than could be easily secreted at a site.

The large volume of phones is needed for coordination of efforts. These phone are not registered or tied to a person. They make one or two calls and throw out the phones. That makes them untraceable. I suspect the "bomb detonation" aspect is secondary.
