A group of gay activists are beginning a national campaign against the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays.
In the next few months, gay men and women in their late teens and early 20s will attempt to enlist at recruiting offices in 30 cities, including Bloomington, Indiana. They will also disclose their sexual orientation.
If they are rebuffed, the activists plan to stage sit-ins at the offices, hoping to attract media coverage and support from a public they believe increasingly opposes the ban.
Organizers have dubbed the campaign Right to Serve.
The military is prohibited from asking recruits about their sexual orientation, and commanders are limited in their ability to investigate rumors or allegations of homosexuality in the ranks.
Should I have included the /sarcasm tag or else the /tasteless humor tag ?
It was NOT a serious post.
Your comment though made me think about the situation of mouth-to-mouth in the battlefield, though...
Are you serious? Wow! 1000 dollars a month for the first couple years. 10 points on a test? I guess you forgot the sarc after your post I hope. The military is paid a heck of a lot lower than the average civilian. A typical careerist makes about 3000 dollars a month and that is after ten years of service.
Read 46 then get back to me...
Thanks, I'll ping it out. Starting tomorrow I'm on vacation for a week so I won't see any pings until I return.

Have a good one. Vacation is always a good thing, especially in summer.
So, court martial them already. This isn't rocket science. Why are we being blackmailed by groups like this? Just say NO!
It aint 10 points.....it's 5. Unless you're compensably disabled then it's 10. Want to get shot for the other 5 points? You don't know Jack about the military.
I was in a "Rainbow" unit for the first three or four days at Lackland. Does that mean I just didn't catch the message in that term?
Sign them all up so they'll all run to Canada.
I knew enough about the military not to enlist. Now that my degree is done (with a very little bit of time in Army ROTC) and I can qualify for better pay and treatment, who knows?
Apparently you don't know "Jack" about the 10 point veterans preference on any Federal (and many FL state) job applications.
Any person retiring from the military can qualify for some level of disability, which is all that's required. Hearing loss is the most common one for the other bomb techs I've worked with (I went to the civilian school).
Be sure to say hello to Jake and Heath, cowboy...
All valid points. I agree with you about the difference in retiree and short 18-24 month enlistments which are being offered now a days. I guess I was just looking at myself when answering the question earlier. Thank you for your service in Iraq. I for one am thankful to ANYONE who goes and fights the war on terror no matter the status.
I got paid for being there (and was given GS12/O4 privileges). But this really isn't about me or any other non-veteran. It is odd that non-veteran status is frowned upon here. I thought all conservatives counted.
I appreciate your service and the service of most government employees. Thank you. I do wonder where some get the feeling that they need permanent entitlements, though.
Are you sure? The gay person would watch their back very, very closely.
Well that reminds me of the old joke about the two coyboys on the range. One gets bit in the a$$ by a rattlesnake.
The other just so happens to know smoke signals. Builds a fire and asks a indian doctor what to do. The doctor replies and tells him how to cut the bite area with his knife and then suck the poison out with his mouth and spit it out. (actually a valid emergency bite treatment)
His partner laying there with his butt sore from the snake bite asked what the doc had said.
The cowboy replied, "He said yer gonna die."
LOL
I'll let you figure out the connection to cpr...........
"Do these people actually WANT to serve, or are they ust publicity hounds?" No they are not publicity hounds. They want access to free viewing of naked young men and women. Obviously, coed showers/quarters are not permitted and segregation of homos from normals should be similarly afforded the same treatment. This solution, of course, is the easy answer and the quest of homosexuals to join the military would end.
