Bad Timing: Democrats knife Liebermamn on the eve of the airliner plot.
The Wall Street Journal ^ | August 11, 2006 | Daniel Henninger

Posted on 08/11/2006 2:23:45 AM PDT by srmorton

That was unfortunate timing this week for the Lamont Democrats, declaring themselves officially the antiwar party within 24 hours of the Brits foiling an Islamic terror plot to spread thousands of U.S.-bound bodies across the North Atlantic, or perhaps across New York, Boston and Washington as the planes descended. Yes, we know; they support the war on terror but are merely against George Bush's war in Iraq. How does that work? Last week before the Lamont victory, 12 members of the congressional Democratic leadership sent President Bush a letter urging that he start a phased pullout from Iraq, euphemized as a "redeployment," starting before the end of this year. But it is becoming increasingly fantastic to argue that in Iraq, with its apparently limitless supply of suicide bombers, hasn't much to do with the terror threats manifest elsewhere. Put it this way: From the perspective as of yesterday of getting on a U.S. airliner, who would you rather have in the Senate formulating policy toward this threat--Ned Lamont or Joe Lieberman? Well, the Democratic Party would rather have Ned Lamont.

The Democratic party needs to remember that Howard Dean was the "darling" of the liberal blogosphere. And his predicted meteoric rise to success as a candidate was one of the biggest flops of the 2004 campaigns.

....this may be the most underreported story of the past 6 years in the MSM....

Ah, don't forget to include the MSM in this whole tawdry, insipid, studity train they've all hitched a ride to. That's why I always include the two together by: MSM/Dems, actually DBM/Dems is more appropriate today.

O'Reilly wondered aloud last night what would have happened if the plot had been discovered before the primary. Would Lieberman have won?

I thought that was a GREAT question.

The MSM keeps trying to hide how far left the RATS have become by labeling everyone to the right of Marx as far right neocons. Then they preach for Republicans to meet them half way.

40 years ago McCain and Rudy Julie-Annie would have been left of center DemocRats, nobody would have called them moderate Republicans.

As God is my witness, I didn't know Muslims were terrorists.

That pic on 16 was just wrong. Quick someone get me a Brillo pAd so I can scrub that image from my brain.

To redeem yourself in my eyes you should post a Ann Coulter pic.

years after his presidency volumes will be written about Dubyas "Strategery"

"Hey, don't worry about me. I'm just a doofus Texas cowboy. You can run rings around me. Just stick your neck in this loop of rope here. I'm to dumb to know what to do with it."

Shalom.

The Dems are always willing to join in a conspiracy theory to explain such things as the recent plot to blow up planes with liquids. They fail to realize their troubles lie within the party itself because they have no vision, they have no ability to think long-term. They deal in instant gratification and band-aid fixes, and then when plots like yesterday's news come out, they try to claim its revelation is "suspicious" in nature.

Democrats are in serious need of a tent meeting, as well as an honest to goodness come to Jesus moment.

unfortunately, a tent revival of Demonicrats would turn into a 'come to Karl Marx' moment, not a 'come to Jesus moment'

Lieberman's election will be the watershed event. I have no illusion though that after he wins he will continue to vote just as he has before.

Maybe not. He came back from a trip to Israel some months ago looking pretty terrified. The Dems can't afford for him to win as an Independent because he would be the swing vote in the Senate. That's why they are fighting so hard to get Lamont in.
