Bad Timing: Democrats knife Liebermamn on the eve of the airliner plot.
The Wall Street Journal ^ | August 11, 2006 | Daniel Henninger

Posted on 08/11/2006 2:23:45 AM PDT by srmorton

That was unfortunate timing this week for the Lamont Democrats, declaring themselves officially the antiwar party within 24 hours of the Brits foiling an Islamic terror plot to spread thousands of U.S.-bound bodies across the North Atlantic, or perhaps across New York, Boston and Washington as the planes descended. Yes, we know; they support the war on terror but are merely against George Bush's war in Iraq. How does that work? Last week before the Lamont victory, 12 members of the congressional Democratic leadership sent President Bush a letter urging that he start a phased pullout from Iraq, euphemized as a "redeployment," starting before the end of this year. But it is becoming increasingly fantastic to argue that in Iraq, with its apparently limitless supply of suicide bombers, hasn't much to do with the terror threats manifest elsewhere. Put it this way: From the perspective as of yesterday of getting on a U.S. airliner, who would you rather have in the Senate formulating policy toward this threat--Ned Lamont or Joe Lieberman? Well, the Democratic Party would rather have Ned Lamont.

What the Democratic Party needs more than anything for the way forward is adult supervision.

This is the problem in a nutshell, especially in view of the comments yesterday by many of the Bushaters that the timing of the revelation of this terrorist plot is "suspicious" coming only two days after the defeat of Joe Lieberman and the "rejection of the war in Iraq".

'timing or a revelation of a terrorist plot'

Democrats are in serious need of a tent meeting, as well as an honest to goodness come to Jesus moment. Of course, being GODLESS HEATHENS doesn't bode well, but everyone's gotta get down on their knees sometime.

These morons are running against a President who isn't even running for anything and will be out of office in two years. Their strategy is, "Hey, I know! We weren't left wing enough with John Kerry in 2004, so let's try again!" Meanwhile, the rest of us can just have fun watching these idiots self-implode.

Its amazing how they manage to keep doing it over and over....years after his presidency volumes will be written about Dubyas "Strategery" of laying low and letting the Rats go insanely over the top with Bush-Bashing, only to pull out the National Security Big Stick close to election time and beat them to death with it....this may be the most underreported story of the past 6 years in the MSM....

This terrorism reminder is going to really hurt the Democrats. In their paranoia and insanity they will claim it was all planned by Bush to boast the GOP in the elections.

The names of the terrorists that have been released, sounds like a list of Democatic Contributors. If you don't believe me go look at the list of Cynthia McKinney's contributors. Then we had Reid boasting "We killed the Patriot Act".

And they wonder why America doesn't trust them with National Security?

"may be the most underreported story of the past 6 years in the MSM...."

The image of Democrats in their bunker smoke-free room trying to come up with talking points on this is so rich. Reminds a little of the old Taxi episode of the driver's test: "What does the yellow light mean?"

Then again, there's Les Nessman's famous line from the Thanksgiving WKRP in Cincinnati's "as God as my witness. I didn't know turkeys couldn't fly."

From the article

"Democrats must have a plan of their own to defeat terror. Every Republican running for office at every level this fall should force his opponent to describe it."

This is good for GOP, but bad for the country.

Bad because it gives solace and hope to our enemy.

Bad because an intelligent debate on how best to defeat Islamofacism would be very helpful.

It isn't that amazing. Like any good socialist, as the social and economic damage of socialist policies manifests itself the only solution is more socialism...

You've got the money line right there.

I hope every Republican does it.

You all are seriously underestimating the "Democrat at all cost" voters. They dang near put Gore in and almost put "The Poodle" in as well.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.

However, when will the GOP learn to capitalize on the stupidity of the Liberals. It is time to trumpet in the streets that it is the efforts of Bush and Blair that stop such attacks from happening and that thousands would be dead if the Liberals were in power today... Thank God for Domestic Surveillance should be the phrase of the day...

The Democrats haven't had good timing since Truman took the oath of office after FDR died.

Lieberman's greatest contribution to the future of this country is this campaign.

It will force people to see what is really at the heart of the current democratic party.

The vote on tuesday was nothing more than the elite and kool aid dems making a statement. The working class dems, were doing just that working punching a clock. But they will vote in november and now they must choose.

They have kids fighting this war, thay have pensions that fluxuate with the markets and they have to buy some type of heating oil or gas for the winter. None of these things benefit from lamount or soros being in charge.

Lieberman's election will be the watershed event. I have no illusion though that after he wins he will continue to vote just as he has before.

Tomorrow's headline will be that the plot to blow up the airline was set up by Bush and Rove intending to incite rancor and hate against...

Media never specified ethnicity of the potential hijackers, so I'm assuming they are 60+ years old women of scandinavian ancestry.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.

Truer words were never spoken.

The individual is smart.

But when you group him with large numbers, the mentality of the herd falls to the lowest common denominator.
