"...Israelis concerned because that force wouldn't necessarily be authorized to use force."
Any "peacekeeping" force must be both authorized AND completely willing to use force to enforce the "ceasefire" -- otherwise they are nothing more than human shields for the Hezi-Nazis. OF course the Hezis don't want a real force because they want to use the UN "peace process" to pursue their own aims. Israel would be insane to accept any force that merely blocks Israeli action without keeping the Hezis out.

I'm sure he told her: "Look, my political position is not the best. The public will have my head in Israel if I agree to anything without at least trying to win. Give me a couple of days and then we'll go about working at the UN. Madam Secretary, we followed the developments in New York and the other side changed the terms of the framework to the extent that it just didn't work for us. Now - I'm grateful for all your efforts on behalf of bringing peace to our region and we will be working together again in the future. Right now, my responsibility is to defend Israel. Thank you for this conversation and our exchange of views. Our two countries face a common threat in Iran to our interests and our effort is solely aimed at restoring quiet to our borders and securing the return of our soldiers. And I'm aware of America's difficulties in Iraq and with the capability of terrrorists to strike at your homeland. Winning this war will not be easy but I am convinced its the only way to a bright future - for the children in Israel, in the United States and the Free World. Rest assured Madame Secretary, we will be speaking again soon. God bless Israel and God bless America."

I know what you're thinking, and I fell into that too, but...
Example:
Chief of Staff tells Southern Theater CO to run a sweep, parallel to the Suez, one Div starting north down to halfway point, handing off to second Div there, which continues to opposite Suez City, staying 2 miles away from the ditch, explicit orders NOT to cross Suez or to try to rescue forts behind enemy lines.
Southern Theater CO tells divisions to destroy all forces east of canal, N to S sweep, rescue isolated forts, cross the Suez at two places, and establish 1 Bge beachheads 12 miles west of the ditch.
There's fluid....and then there's IDF FLUID.
See what I mean?

Israel begins massive ground offensive in Lebanon
11/08/2006 - 18:09:06
Israel has begun an expanded ground offensive in southern Lebanon after expressing dissatisfaction over an emerging cease-fire deal, government officials said.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and his defence minister, Amir Peretz, made the decision to expand the offensive after meeting for four hours Friday. Peretz instructed the military to launch the offensive, officials said.
Olmerts spokesman, Asaf Shariv, told The Associated Press that the expanded incursion had already begun.
An emerging ceasefire deal being worked out by the UN Security Council fails to meet Israels basic requirements, such as stationing robust international combat troops in southern Lebanon once Israel withdraws, Shariv said.

Did you hear him say Hugo said Fidel was in a battle for his life and let's ask God to help him?
I've seen it all. Me thinks Hugo tipped us off by mistake... The Lord is indeed great.

Please call the number below to thank President Bush and to give your input on the need for the US to continue its high level of support in this latest Israeli vs. Terrorist war in the Middle East.
This comment line puts you in touch with a real, live, person to whom you can express your support for Israel and ask the President to "hang tough" to prevent a cease fire that would render the efforts of Israel in vain.
PLEASE CALL PRESIDENT BUSH AT THE WHITE HOUSE AT 1-202-456-1111 AND PROVIDE YOUR THOUGHTS.
PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU BELIEVE CARES.
