"Israel has asked for the M-26 artillery rockets scheduled for early 2007 to be airlifted now, according to the New York Times. They are designed for rapid consignment to the US army by C-141 Galaxy transports. Fired in 12-rocket barrages, they carry hundreds of grenade-like bomblets that scatter and explode over a broad area. This cluster rocket can penetrate Hizballah fortifications."

State Dept spokesperson refused to comment on the article. But just watch the libs go nuts about cluster bombs. Ball bearings are ok in Hiz rockets, but cluster bombs used by Israel is going to raise a ruckus in libland.

It's basically been a total roller-coaster morning. Early on there was a lot of hub-bub coming from the
UN- Bolton saying they were VERY close to agreement and would possibly vote this afternoon. Lot of
back ond forth on that..Condi arrived at the UN and had a chat with Annan...

Out of nowhere it was then reported that Olmert said no deal- and gave the go-ahead for the invasion on
the ground. The fundamental issues are the ROE's for the "peacekeepers" and the relationship between
THIS agreement and the original #1559- which DID call for disarming Hizballah. The sticking points
seem to be around whether or not these peacekeepers would have arms, and what their actual roles
would be.

All the above lends credence to the possibility that this "offensive" may be at least partly a negotiating tool.

A nexus comes when the US officially responds to Israel's announcement of the expanded offensive.

A second nexus comes when and if, IDF makes contact across a broad front, plus time enough for that news to trickle out, be absorbed, and result in decisions from regional players.

Assuming this gets to that point, watch the Syrian lines and activities on the Golan like a hawk.

"Which part of Lebanon is unfriendly to Syria?"

It's in some cases a question of degree. The part that is most friendly to Syria is the southern section south of the Litani River (Hezbollah country), the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon(radical Sunnis), and certain urban areas in practically all of the major cities -- which is not to say that the cities are friendly to Syria, with the exception of Sidon and Tyre, they are not.

So generally speaking; north of the Litani River and east of the Bekaa Valley and outside certain neighborhoods in major cities the territory is more or less unfriendly to Syria.

Will someone as FOX PLEASE recall Shep Smith??

They didn't recall him after Katrina. So you can be rest assured management will not recall him for this event.

Shep needed to be sent packing a long time ago along with all those ex-CNN reporters that came over.

Hezbollah Sets Up on NA Servers

August 11, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- The recent conflict between Israel and Lebanon has revealed Web sites operated by the militant Islamic organization - considered a terrorist organization by both the US and Canadian governments - on North American servers, including some on companies unknowingly hosting the content.

This week it was reported that a Web hosting company located in Montreal, Canada, had discovered it was unknowingly hosting material for the Hezbollah organization. The group reportedly hacked into a server operated by iWeb, which was tipped off to the Web site's presence by an anonymous email.

A spokesman for the company said iWeb contacted the reseller hosting the site, who shut down the site. Because iWeb rents out space to hosting resellers, says the company, it cannot be responsible for what ends up on those servers.

Last week, reports said that US federal investigators were examining domain registrar eNom's part in the operation of the Web site for Hezbollah's official television station al-Manar TV station.

Israel bombed the TV station's location in Beirut, but the station has continued its efforts to communicate online. As the site's domain registrar, eNom may be considered to be facilitating the quick shifting of the site between hosts, which has kept it from being shut down.

Experts say acting as the station's registrar may place the company in violation of US Executive Order 13224, which prevents US groups or individuals from providing financial and technological support to organizations considered terrorists by the government.

Later for them. There comes a time when you just have to stand up and do what you have to do.

The Air Force retired C-141s last year. Debka reveals an incredible lack of basic operational knowledge sometimes. We move stuff around in C-5s and C-117s now. Small point I know, but missing these little details undermines credibility.

Mistake in my post.

I wrote:

"So generally speaking; north of the Litani River and east of the Bekaa Valley . . ."

That should have been written:

"So generally speaking; north of the Litani River and west of the Bekaa Valley . . ."

Sorry about that.

Hi J:) Hope you're feeling better.

I'm thinking..it would be REALLY foolhardy for Olmert to order a ground invasion as a negotiating tool ..at this point in the game. You may have been a little out of loop since you been sick..but there is increasing pressure on Olmert by others in the government and the Israeli people to stop pussy-footing around.

Breaking- Olmert now announcing the ground war has begun.
