Love is a Battlefield
IDF soldier received heart shaped cookie somewhere near the Lebanon border...
Look, don't make me go back to Garden Web- if you think we have some fights in here, you should see them fight over there about using bug sprays versus organic gardening. ROFL
Difficult Decisions for Hezbollah
Raghida Dergham - Ultimately, this is a battle for existence. Hezbollah can now choose, even on the ruins of Lebanon, to be a part of a Lebanese government that exercises its sovereignty independent of Iranian influence and Syrian excuses. This will require a decision that will turn Hezbollah from a movement that is subordinate to Tehran and Damascus to an effective party that can preserve its popularity within the Lebanese social structure.

Oh Jeffers..... you know darn well that piece of paper isn't worth the tree it was cut down for! You were the first to tell us to remember that it wasn't over "till the fat lady sang." Well, she ain't signing yet....... :-)
Sure hope you feel better - keep up the chicken soup.
Man is JB ticked tonight.
The terms require Hez to stop hostilities immediately. Israel only has to stop offensive actions.
I sort of think this agreement will break down in less than a week, but I could be wrong. I think Nas won't be able to deal with it
Thanks for the heads up. Tony is soooooooooo cool. I think that future president are going say "get me a Tony Snow". He has really raised the standard.
I never did get that photo of Tony he promised to send from his radio days.
OP3. Emphasizes the importance of the extension of the control of the government of Lebanon over all Lebanese territory in accordance with the provisions of resolution 1559 (2004) and resolution 1680 (2006), and of the relevant provisions of the Taif Accords, for it to exercise its full sovereignty, so that there will be no weapons without the consent of the government of Lebanon and no authority other than that of the government of Lebanon;
You know it, I know it, some others do....you have to love your guys in the field...they have to come first, always and every time.
Not that they get undeserved slack, but they get what they have to have to do their jobs.
When you break that trust, you break your army and you lose wars.
Patrick Seale - Is there enough wisdom in Israels leadership to grasp that the old formula of imposing terms on a defeated Arab world will no longer work. Israels security cannot be achieved at the expense of the insecurity of its neighbours. In her innocence, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has described the present crisis as the birth pangs of a new Middle East. She may find that the Middle East which emerges from the womb of the Lebanon war is not the one she had anticipated...more
wow olmert fiction. JB really isnt buying this. Said he took the deal and announced it BEFORE it was even presented before the voters in the UN.
Whatever it was, its dead now. I have no idea how long it was live before they took it down, why they took it down, or for that matter why it was up at all. It's been five years or thereabouts since they've had a live feed. Like everyone else, they took it down because of legal issues having to do with airing of commercials (I believe), which I haven't had explained or have seen recently.
They may possibly be planning a subscription service that somehow will overcome the legal issues (eg. blackout commercials as the radio stations do) and this was a test of servers, bandwidth, etc. I do know I enjoyed it in the background on the computer at work and miss it even though it was on for only a few days. So bottom line is who knows what's going on with it.
I would be the last to say that personal life stresses don't cloud ones perceptions...but that is the good thing about FR and this thread.
I have a few life stresses right now,...but when I post how I feel about this or that about this "war"...I take the feedback as a sign if I am letting my personal stress cloud my judgment about this.
I have been hyperbolic about this today..and been called on it...and I have to admit that I have been stressed today about something totally unrelated to this.
I was feeling more "let down" by Olmert than I should...and expressing it here.
Luckily there are such nice freepers on this thread that they are NICE when the let me know..to calm down.
I can't decide your level of stress for YOU...but don't be surprised if you are bringing some in with you.
I hear Howlin is the ping master for the end of the world thread on the 22nd. I am sure some here are aware of it. It could give this thread some competition. Maybe we could do a split screen with two threads that morning/night.
It's over for the next five minutes, the piece of paper says so.
If I have a bone to pick with somebody on our payroll, or two such somebodies, as the case may be, now's a better time to pick it than when the fur's flying, yes?
do you get the feeling that Batchelor is spitting mad too? hoo-eeee.
Indeed, I really hope you are right about this. We have great trust in the governments of the U.S.A. and the U.K. that we are in good hands. I can't imagine how much stress is involved for those who have the tough assignment of tracking this all down, and I'm sure you'll agree they have done a marvellous job in extremely difficult circumstances.
There's another thing with that date of August 22. You know how in the western calendar this is August 27? August 27 is 1811 days after 9/11. (including the leap year) Things are complicated enough around here without me playing detective :-) I really am going this time. Cheers.
I can't agree more. There is so much more to this story. Unfortunately, a lot of lives are going to lost, on both sides. And we can't let CNN, MSNBC, et el shape our thinking on this. They all strive for the negative when it comes to President Bush.
