Since you are from my generation, I will offer this example:

The same thing can be said for our country. Granted they are not the ruling majority here. Not at this point, and may God help us all if they attain that goal. There are still Israelis who have not given in. There are the ones who did not vote for the appeasers and there are some who now may see the error of their vote.
However, those DO come down and not go up (at least from our frame of reference)...

It was Olmert who initiated the call, he made that call about 4:50 Eastern Time to the Crawford ranch. Now it may have been really brief, but it is important symbolically, hugely important because these two leaders have not spoken since the beginning of this crisis erupted some -- nearly a month ago.
Now Frederick Jones (ph), the spokesman for the NSC, described the conversation this way, saying that essentially Olmert thanked Mr. Bush for the work that he'd done on the U.N. Security Council draft resolution for the Lebanese crisis. That the president expressed his view that the crisis had been provoked by Hezbollah supported by Iran and Syria and that also reiterated the point that it is we as in the international community that needs to ensure that the reach of the Lebanese government extends throughout the country.
Now, Wolf, of course, the back-story here is, is that there's no accident these two leaders have not spoken in some 30 days, very deliberate here. The United States has been saying that Israel has a right to defend itself, but there was a lot of concern over the perception that the U.S. was colluding with the Israeli government, so they decided these two leaders, it would not be appropriate for them to speak until the appropriate time. That, of course, when there was a resolution that was approved when it looked like Israel was on board, and, of course, Wolf, that time has come.
I happened to catch the latter part of Sean's radio show today, and he was taking a LOT of calls who were slamming him on the Wallace interview!!

The thing is, what are Hezbollah on the ground having to say about about this deal? In listening and reading all this morning as far as I know they have not made a statement at all. I did hear that a leading Hezbollah politician had signed the agreement; it won't be worth the paper it is written on if the Hezbollah in the south continue to fire rockets into Israel?
I think the agreement is that Israel is still allowed defensive fire. It was expressly pointed out that Israel will cease all offensive action. Anyhow, this resolution will probably be about as effective as the ones before it, and the ones used on Saddam, etc.
I also have faith that the administration has learned the UN Tango by now (after the Iraq run-up) and I trust that Condi, W and Bolton have got it straight. I believe they are the types who truly want to do the right thing.

Very interesting. I don't think that I have EVER seen Sean and Alan on the same page. It was a first for me too. I had a moment where I didn't want to slap Alan silly.
Highlights were Sean giving the guy a yes or no ultimatum and that Sean ended the segment requesting that hate monger get himself help.
Oh, they'll claim it's a win for Hizballah. Problem is, if they break the conditions, the entire world will know that they are at fault, and the Lebanese government right along with them.
